And nothing of value was gained...
Bullshit. Was this a perfect hack? No, it was completely mismanaged in a lot of ways, and the attempt at humor was...poor. There was probably some absolute gold hiding in those undocumented emails, and considering Alex's proclivities and lack of self control possibly some actually sexually criminal correspondence. On the other hand why the fuck is anyone pretending getting the source code, confirmed dox, and explicit emails with tinybuild is "nothing"? And if someone's completely uninterested in lolcow information and just wants laughs, seeing his fans on the subreddit flail at their sacred cow being profaned definitely strikes me as entertaining, as is generally seeing Mahan lose control of something he clearly has his ego so heavily intertwined with.

Then people are @ing Not Based or Redpilled to ask him questions as if any person would want to stick around and continue being cooperative after getting flamed to hell and back for being overly excitable and inexperienced at gay ops. I honestly don't know if it would actually even be less embarrassing to be an expert at something like that.

Of course they also admitted to potentially breaking the law which is the only part that was completely out and out stupid, but that's a separate issue.

I swear to god, I feel like I'm on 4chan here with the infuriating doomer garbage. Fact is that someone put in effort and got something out of it, and having something is better than nothing, even if it's disappointing that it wasn't as much as it could've been.

For anyone curious about the subreddit, according to a post on r/Osana the subreddit has been abandoned and they're transitioning to r/Yandere_Sim_fanclub where permission is now needed to even start posting. It's also mentioned that r/yanderesimulator is still a thing though it's not particularly active and thus likely escaped notice when r/yandere_simulator was set aflame during the account hijacking.

I just noticed a thing. If Alex gave Kiwifarms a letter for breaking the law, can we get him back for breaking the TOS of Unity for buying the character models and passing on the characters as his own (plus using them for commercial reasons)? Different scales but still.

lol no, you can't sue on someone else's behalf like that.

This has come up before, and I believe that Alex hasn't yet breached the TOS of the Unity Store for use of the assets. If he were using the models for his merchandise that would definitely be a breach of the TOS, but since he uses original artwork that's based off of the model he's free to do as he likes. At least, that's the conclusion I remember coming to the last time this came up.

Interesting. So what about him refusing to pay back TinyBuild the money on the emails? Obviously we can't say anything on that, but I'm surprised TinyBuild just let him go instead of knocking his door down like a mafia came to visit, even with the contract. Is refusing/delaying to pay a violation?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm not well-versed on stuff like this.

It isn't better than nothing. Lolcows should be left alone to produce content on their own. Provoking the cows is stupid and doing it ( and breaking the law by doing so) in order to achieve so little is even stupidier.

I hope Alex won't delay his Hate and Shame 2 because of this 'cause that's gonna be true source of proper lulz.

There is a 100% chance he will to add some commentary of this specific "accident" in it.

Everyone here is a wet blanket. Yeah, more emails would have been nice, but we have the long sought after source code and someone said the assets (which are storebought or stolen anyways) could be manually reentered into the game from a downloaded game's files and I'm certain someone here will be autistic enough to do just that. Alex has been taking the money of children and stupid people for years for just sitting on his ass, he totally deserved everything he's gotten here and losing that 3k subreddit.

As for Kiwifarms reputation, many unironically believe this website was the direct cause of multiple deaths. Yandev is already regarded as an internet laughing stock and creep, the only people who will have sympathy for him is his ever shrinking cult of paypigs.

In that email Alex stated that he believed he wasn't prevented in the contract from saying anything unpleasant about TinyBuild, and he essentially threatened to publish a YouTube video doing exactly that if he wasn't let out of the contract without repaying what TinyBuild had sunk into YanSim. While TinyBuild would have been in the right to attempt to get at least some repayment out of Alex, I guess they decided the potential bad press and word of mouth spread of them "bullying some indie developer after they sabotaged his project" really wasn't worth it. Thus, they let him get out of repayment and ate the costs themselves.

The real question is whether or not TinyBuild take 2 (505 or whatever it's called, the other company currently looking to do something similar to what TinyBuild did) is paying attention to recent events and reevaluating their options. Having Alex's email exchange with TinyBuild be public might be of interest to them.

Interesting. So what about him refusing to pay back TinyBuild the money on the emails?
Read them more carefully. He renegotiated his contract to not have to pay it back (by threatening them with a scorched-earth social media campaign)
It worked, they signed the new papers, and the matter is closed.

EDIT:

The 505 emails were from 2017 I believe. I doubt anything came of it.

The NDA is signed April 2, 2020. Have to look through the rest of the posts to see if there was anything else, but that's much more recent than 2017.
You're right, I just checked again. One of the emails was a chain lasting from 2015-2017 and the other was from 2020. I guess they really did sit on this for 5 (!) years.

I think we all know that this "hacking incident" hasn't changed anything about the trajectory of the game's development.
Even if this didn't happen Osana would still be delayed over and over, the only difference is that now he has a more concrete excuse for it.
(This is even more obvious since the code isn't even made to implement Osana properly yet when he has been promising her inclusion for more than two years now)

Didn't someone earlier in the thread bring up how some of the code wasn't able to be retrieved or got straight up corrupted due to not saving the code properly or something to that effect?

The dox is pretty useless unless someone feels messing with the cow even further, but hey, at least we know where he lives I guess.

All the email with Tiny build confirms is that Alex was being an even bigger bitch about the deal than anticipated. There was most likely way more interesting info to be found there.

Nothing new was gained through this hack. All it really accomplished in doing was annoying Alex and his mods and turning his hugbox into an anarchy server.

Then people are @ing Not Based or Redpilled to ask him questions as if any person would want to stick around and continue being cooperative after getting flamed to hell and back for being overly excitable and inexperienced at gay ops. Being embarrassed about a mostly failed hack doesn't mean he can just cowardly go radio silent. I'd respect the guy a lot more if he just owned up to his mistake.

I share the sentiment, but still.

Lol calm down.

Tbh I don't really care about what we got or could have got from him. I come for the laughs and I am quite entertained with the attack at his subreddit since his fans and mods are more vocal and thus more amusing.

I would have preferred the hack in other time as we already were having Hate and Shame 2, since before that video everything around YanSim was pretty much dead. Having this before or after the video would have been good to keep it interesting.

I was skimming through StudentScript.cs and noticed this on line 543:
C#:
public bool NotAlarmedByYandereChan = false;
Ignoring the sheer insanity of having 733 lines of member variable declarations, the name NotAlarmedByYandereChan is unnecessarily confusing. Testing whether a student is alarmed by Ayano would have to be expressed as "if student is not not alarmed by Yandere Chan", which is kind of fucking stupid. If Alex followed the convention that I typically see used for naming boolean variables, then NotAlarmedByYandereChan would instead be called IsAlarmedByYandereChan, or maybe IsAlarmedByYandereChan. I'm also confused as to why the default value is being set to false here, since that would imply that students should start out alarmed by Ayano.
Now for something funny from lines 1215 through 1217:

As if the entire file isn't made up of special cases lol.

So looking through the 505 email chain is interesting, and this email caught my attention for some details about the KickStarter.
interesting email.png

I want to interpret that as should 505 sign on with Alex (not sure if they have yet), if the KickStarter fails 505 will no longer be involved and will be out 40-50k as a result.

Also mentioned in the email chain are discussions of revenue sharing of potential ports of YanSim, including such systems as XBox, PlayStation, Linux and Mac. And once again, confirmation that Alex plans to have the KickStarter a month after Osana's release and mentions of physical goodies sent to popular YouTubers that've played Yansim "the most" to try to drive up hype.
