reddit General

In the past I would occasionally go onto the front page of Reddit just to see what delusions the plebbitors have spun up, for the sake of amusement. But the last few times I’ve done that I’ve found it no longer amuses me at all, and instead just left me feeling depressed and concerned for the future. Can anyone else relate to that sentiment at all?

It’s like..... if I read a post here I disagree with, it doesn’t bother me much. I can understand why someone might have come to a conclusion different from my own. On Plebbit though, I read these absolutely preposterous untruths — often the precise inverse of the truth in fact — and see them all egging each other on like some sort of mentally handicapped support group. It’s not only that I disagree with them, it’s that they are skin-crawlingly retarded yet believe that they are the enlightened ones. Their delusions have grown much broader in scope, more extreme in their falsehood, and I see no signs of it slowing down any time soon.

This is easily my most autistic post ever on the Farms but I feel compelled to say this somewhere. It scares me that there are so many midwits like that, guarded by their phony shroud of righteousness, who likely make up the majority of academia & other institutions of culture already. The most dangerous thing is a brainlet who is also a staunch ideologue, and that’s what all of them are. They claim to “fucking love science!” yet can happily eschew scientific principles in an instant when it serves their absurd ideology (transgender dogma, etc)

The internet has allowed bands of fools who would otherwise be socially isolated to digitally congregate and compound each other’s delusions. What makes plebbit even worse is that they earnestly believe they are the sane ones. Ok </autismo>

I don't think the folks cracking hive mind of reddit memes realized just how true it would become. This might be by design, and social media as a whole has been turned into a tool to weaponize the sheep.
I dread the day when the world has China's citizen credit score, because these are going to be the folks that set its guidelines and policy.

It helps me to sleep at night to think that if/when they get the world of lunacy they so desperately crave, that it will all crash in around them leaving them even more miserable and broken than they are now. When they have canceled all the people who hold the world together, who maintain it all, broken and dysfunctional as it already is, the people who innovate and bring us every little inch forward to try to improve the dysfunction are all in the re-education camps for misgendering a housefly or whatever, and they finally have the world they deserve, and the truth hits them, that their gay little space communism just won't work without the people who, you know, work. When the hoards are at the gate because the nanny drone heard them having an erotic dream about the opposite sex, even though deep down they know that that sort of thing is on the wrong side of history, as they beg forgiveness from the diverity squad of tranny she-apes while being dragged to the gulag, themselves. Knowing that what I just stone-ed-edly (fuck you its a new superlative, I'm like, a wordsmith) described is probably optimistic, and knowing that despite them I live my life how I want and for who and what I want, yeah. Its like counting sheep these days.

Don't mind me, just boggling at Chairmain Pao, former reddit... CEO? ... casually admitting that she (and everyone else) knew about Weinstein and his Girlfriend running a child sex ring in 2011.

I guess she was trying to totally own the guys in silicon valley, which is kinda her MO, but instead she just put everyone on the table for conspiracy. To be fair, though, royally fucking up is also her MO.

For those who don't remember her, she's a diversity hire who has been pushing for race and sex quotas and generally pulling the "not enough wammynz" card, hampered somewhat because she's Han Chinese and no one gives a shit about increasing the number of Chinese in tech.

Plebbit has always been bad but it used to be the front page would at least have some relevant things and maybe even something to look at. Now it's all just uniformly completely pozzed up bullshit.

For those who don't remember her, she's a diversity hire who has been pushing for race and sex quotas and generally pulling the "not enough wammynz" card, hampered somewhat because she's Han Chinese and no one gives a shit about increasing the number of Chinese in tech.

And other than that she is known for filing lolsuits and losing them against anyone dumb enough to hire her incompetent ass. Despite that she still got canceled. What a dumb, useless bitch.

Why should anyone be shocked a pedophile would associate with lawyers? Criminals, lawyers, they kind of go together don't they?

He's getting all this praise in the comments like he got his life together, still has no job, and they recommend more games for him to waste his time with. Never change Reddit.
At least now he'll have a chance to discover such hidden gems as Skyrim. I wish you could firebomb people through the internet.

As for the quality of discourse on reddit - I think what hurts the site the most is that low point posts are automatically hidden. Thus any opinion not within the preexisting zeitgeist gets effectively discarded. That not only limits the amount of people who will read it, but also gives the poster negative feedback of opinion X being against dogma, hence it being unneeded. That in turn coupled with updoots and gold from fellow strangers reaffirms that discussion is all about agreeing with each other and making [or reposting] oh so funny puns about the topic.

Don't get a job, just play video game and get excited for next video game. Not even a new video game either, just generic AAA sandboxes which prioritise quantity over quality and have as much colour and variety as cold gravy.
now i understand why boomers wanted video games banned
It's true that the site is basically just instagram for instagram haters but they're even lower imo because they also hate reddit too. I mean they endlessly bitch about reddit because even they know being a redditor is lame af. But they'll still use the site everyday despite all that because of what you said(they're too pussy to join any forum). I admit there are still some good reasons to still use reddit(even though they love to axe all the subs I like) but most of the people there are losers. Just go through any r/AITA or r/relationship_advice poster and you'll see what I mean. The type of people who frequently comment on those subs have some serious issues.
instagram is at least decent if you use it as social media is meant to - to keep up with people you know IRL. yeah it doesn't have "dank memes 100 wholesome big chungus" but being on insta for the memes is like paying a hooker for a hug.
but you can't expect epic gamer ledditors to understand having friends.

Everytime I see a longpost divided up ito micro-paragraphs like this, I just know it's going to be retarded. You just know this guy has fantasised about giving a TED talk.

Redditors all think that they have something insightful or touching to say, but really they're all boring little people with meaningless lives just like everyone else.
It's like they've all learned to write from Salon or Buzzfeed. And that's a good thing.

They claim to “fucking love science!” yet can happily eschew scientific principles in an instant when it serves their absurd ideology (transgender dogma, etc)

If you mentally replace "science" with "God" while browsing Reddit then everyone suddenly sounds like an evangelical nutjob.

I fuckin' love God! Praise God! Our education system is shit that's why everyone denies God!

It's honestly kinda hilarious when you consider the vast majority of Reddit struggles with critical thinking.

Video games can be beautiful and artistic, it just happens that the big AAA developers aren't looking to create art. They want to make something universally appealing (a sandbox where you can choose your own character, customise them, interact how you want, romance whoever you want) that'll last an average player 40 hours or more, with lots of replay value due to the sheer quantity of content, plenty of space for expansion packs, and a simple enough plot that it doesn't alienate young or retarded players. Morons think that being able to 'play how you like' in a snadbox with a customisable character makes the game more immersive, but really it just saves the writers from having to write a compelling story or design an attractive protagonist.

Some big money sandbox games, IMO, are exceptions. BoTW is undeniably gorgeous and I personally liked the most recent Dragon Age because of the sheer variety of environments, but tbh both of them kept the player on a fairly short leash in terms of character and choices. People confuse quantity with quality all the time. Let's face it - most of the landscapes in Skyrim looked the same, the plot was boring, the characters were two dimensional. Fallout tried a little harder to be compelling, but the entire thing's just a big brown mess.

Video games can be art, imo, and I don't think they should be banned or censored. You can just tell on certain big-money games these days that there's no passion or creativity there anymore, and without passion there's no art. A well crafted video game of reasonable length's no more a waste of time than a book or a tv series, it's just these big shambling 100 hour sandboxes which are killing people's minds.

Epstein not Weinstein, i know the amount of the (((tribe))) being involved in degenerate sex crime gets a bit much to keep track of though.

Don't know why they think this puts them in a good light. Ron Perlman pulled the same shit about how he knew Weinstein was an abuser and so owned him by not washing his hands after taking a piss then shaking hands with Weinstein.

How long until she catches the new strain of COVID which shoots you in the back of the head 19 times so the wider public doesn't learn about all the "cool" people being invited to all those "cool" parties?

Oh she's going to get COVID-19 and some nurse will make a terrible medical error like accidentally pushing a bolus of potassium chloride.

Gotta make it look accidental now, y'know.

I often see comment chains repeat themselves across multiple seperate posts; days, months, and even years apart. The conversation will flow in precisely the same way every time.

It gives you this sense that you've heard it all before, which to be fair, tends to happen if you spend enough time discussing things online anyways (you start to see in your mind all the counter arguments you'll receive (and then eventually conclude that it's not even worth posting, because you know what the replies will be)).

But I've found that repetition nearly robotic on Reddit, and it hardly feels as though I'm speaking to a person at all on many of the largest Subreddits, but rather an algorithm of predefined responses.

Almost like a shitty RPG NPC.

I honestly think point systems in general are programing humans. On a mass scale you can control crowds of people to do almost anything, down to rioting using a points system.

I've tried my best to seperate myself from any point based feedback on every interaction I have with the web for this reason.

But people are so hooked into it, it's kind of a nightmare honestly.

How many times have you heard the average person around you utter the same sentiments? "This is the new normal", "systemic racism"... Ect.

All of these sites are using points, and everyone is slowly losing their humanity and individuality.

That's because they are literally NPCs. Reddit is inundated with bots that post to make certain threads look more active and to push a narrative. Look at the Southern Poverty Law Center and ACLU subreddits and notice who the mods are. They're the same ones that control the top 100 subreddits.

Quick, go check Epstein's private jet flight logs and find out how many times Spez went to the private island. I don't think the "cool" (lmao, yeah right) people in charge of that guest list could even feign plausible deniability. I rarely see Epstein mentioned without Maxwell's name close by, and that's going back years and years. If Old Jeff was found guilty in 2008, then there's do doubt that Maxwell was involved in his schemes in some capacity. Even if they didn't know for sure, Epstein cast enough of a shadow that they should have known not to invite her

The more I think about it Kiwifarms is like Reddit. We have an echo chamber, and anyone who goes against it doesn't get their internet points. This site makes it so that one would want to post what they can to get as many positive reactions as possible. It is idiotic to be "punished" or "rewarded" for having an opinion on an anonymous forum.
on Reddit being downvoted:
  • hides your comment
  • reduces your post visibility for the future
  • makes it so you have to wait 5 minutes to post again
  • can happen regardless if your post is insightful or not
on the farms getting a sticker:
  • doesnt hide your post or change how fast you can post
  • doesnt matter in the long run unless you are retarded
  • means more than just an upvote or downvote like TMI or mad at the internet is different from dumb or autistic
also longer and more insightful posts tend to get more stickers which encourages people to contribute to the discussion instead of being a robot who adds nothing. it isnt perfect but its better than reddit.

this is why when people refer to mainstream reddit users they call them "the reddit hivemind" it is the closest thing we have today to a hivemind. I made a post earlier about this but by the circlejerk quantifying what to upvote and downvote regardless of how useful your post is it shapes redditors as much as they shape it. the entire point system is perfect for brainwashing consoomers whos only friends are on the internet. so it only makes sense that companies want to use reddit for astroturfing.
