Economic oppression going back thousands of years prior to anyone ever having gone to those areas? Many tribes exist in the same way today as they did back then. The invention of one of the most basic human tools should tell people everything, considering it went completely unused until the 19th century when other countries brought it. That line of thinking simply doesn't hold up, considering the wheel can be found going back thousands upon thousands of years into human history. Economic suppression could be argued later, but name another culture or race that wouldn't be able to recover in hundreds of years.
The answer isn’t simple. You can’t deny that some issues are down to foreign influence. Look at that case recently where a Chinese plant in Ethiopia was poisoning the locals and the water - that’s being directly shat upon by a foreign power. China’s belt and road policy relies on forcing debt servitude on poor countries. Some countries like Sierra Leone have told them to fuck off but most have put on the chains and they will suffer for it.

If we used the same arguments for areas in the US, we'd get laughed at because people should be able to recover within a generation or two's time. It goes to show how black people are held to a lower standard than White people, and yet that's somehow not racist. Look at the rust belt and other economic regions in the US. Hell, the whole south post Civil War era could be used as an example. If White people argued that there was a correlation between any of those events and not being able to recover, we'd be laughed at.
I admit on the first point I only used that example because previous posts put the two together, and was working on that line of logic (had a close friend who grew up in that example, and people where awful to that family because of of the mom "not remarrying" which also played a factor in to my post).

Its a sad story actually, the father pretty much didn't have much time when the cancer news came, and it was all after his time in the service (and he worked in constuction for a while after the Navy). This was decades before "have you or your loved one died from mesopotamia" ads and some how the fathers family ended up being "next of kin" for decisions instead of his wife. No autopsy or anything was done that would have allowed such a claim to be given serious thought.

Well the jesuits certainly thought that. Having raised kids, I agree too. The hard work is up to 7-8 or so. If they’re Ok by that point they’ll probably turn out alright. You can see which ones are going to be trouble from pretty early, and when you meet the families, you can see why.
