About the only good thing there is it makes her bankruptcy completely unambiguous. There's probably more bills rolling in too, should possibly wait until after the damages are all added up.

That's pretty tragic, tbh. I don't know how work laws work in USA, but I'd guess you shouldn't be fired if you're sick, as long as you have a contract. Here, we have something called "service" (yes, in English) where you work for someone or a company as long as they need your services (hence, the name), but if you can't provide or they don't need you, they can just tell you "that's it, bye" without any benefit. I guess that's the type of job Heather had?

I doubt it’s illegal to fire her. I’m going to guess that an employer that doesn’t even offer insurance doesn’t have a robust sick leave policy.
The hospital bill was what I expected.
I am shocked that Zach seemed to think Hagrid wasn’t going to be fired.

I was expecting higher but I wouldn't be surprised if another couple hundred thousand is coming down the pike. Tutoring is probably some kind of piece work where you get paid for specifically doing it. No work, no pay. Even if she somehow could work she might have ended up having to quit just to qualify for Medicaid for whatever sequelae of the strokes is going to happen. She's effectively disabled and broke, with whether or not she's permanently disabled probably not even knowable yet.
He can't scrub the internet of all his degeneracy.
I decided to Google his name just to see what came up, and was not disappointed by the first result:The meth mouth is an issue, too, but he could at least get his teeth fixed.

I don’t think he wants Heather to die, if only because he’ll never find another meal ticket like her. But he is being absurdly optimistic - it’s telling how quickly he went from “oh okay Heather can work after all” to “so let me tell you about all my sexual fantasies that don’t involve my wife.” He clearly doesn’t realise that things will never go back to how they were.Caring for a very ill spouse is extremely stressful. It is traumatizing when you come close to losing your partner. A spouse is a lover, a friend, and family all rolled up into one. Of course something like this is extremely hard to go through. However, we all know that none of that applies to Zach. He doesn't care about Heather, except her status as his paypig. In fact, he was downright giddy at the thought that Heather might die. It was the most cheerful posting I've ever seen from Zach. If he suddenly discovered he loved Heather when all this was going on, he'd still be acting like it. He never talks about how glad he is that he didn't lose her and how much he loves her. Nope. He's back to being a self-centered bastard.
Zach also needs to realize that Heather is not going back to work any time soon. She has aphasia ffs. She has trouble walking. She has several things that, in combination, make it more likely she'll be dead in 6 months instead of back to work. Zach needs to give up his fantasies of being a famous scholarly troon. It's never going to happen because his prolapsed anus videos are enough to kill any chance of being treated seriously in academia. The meth mouth is an issue, too, but he could at least get his teeth fixed. He can't scrub the internet of all his degeneracy.
He could even get a job working from home pretty easily. In fact, there is an ad for customer sales reps for Williams-Sonoma that is remote work. They start training July 13th. $14 bucks an hour.
I bet that result’s so high because of Zach’s desperate Googling.
