And that's why the "atheist community" just isn't relevant anymore.
ANY activist-community or identity-community is irrelevant anymore.
Thanks to leftie lunacy and total domination by silicon valley and woke disciples online, you either get run out of existence for "problematic" behavior, or you get co-opted by self-appointed leadership that barges in from the outside to take the group in the "Correct" direction, towards ending problematic things, and instead of whatever you were doing before. Were you just discussing religion or knitting technique or vidya? Well, now you now have to march in protest of Trump and hold daily struggle sessions, or you'll be ejected as a secret Nazi sympathizer, there's more IMPORTANT things to be doing these days than just talking about model trains, like addressing the train community's horrible social biases towards blacks, gays, trannies and such, since when was the last time YOU discussed them and their struggle? Huh?
The internet "community" as it existed in the early oo's is gone completely today, having either been burned down or is out in the streets burning down actual things of value. Every group that was content to just have a website and blog is now either dead, or fully full of SJWs.
Like a person in a horror movie who just got bit by a zombie, your only option to being part of ANY confederation these days is to either submit to the plague or use your last ounce of free will to off yourself to deny the hoard a new recruit.
Just living your life is no longer an option.
Ultimately, that may be for the better as people realize there never WAS true "community" online, in any way, that was strong enough to matter. Given how many far-left movements are built on the idea of neo-communist "community action" being able to do anything better than traditional actual communities, except riot.
But remembering how nontoxic it used to be to say, just be a member of an online hobby group in say, 99' or even 10' is startling when you think about it now.
