I know at least two of the major pokemon forums (Bulbagarden and Pokecommunity, IIRC) were created by pedos. Sure, forums were kill by social media but the Pokemon community has been full of this shit from the start. Poketubers did get called out last year, but that's a subset of a larger community.
Cleaning up the Pokemon community would be like trying to clean up the furry community, IMO. You're working against people who have been entrenched in the community for multiple decades in some cases.

The Nappy situation, for instance; there is evidence gathered and archived by people from people who have been affected the guy, but too many twitlongers and not enough reporting to the proper authorities leads to the accused man hiding out for months, only to revive himself as a content creator on Christmas Eve, making those who cancelled him long ago lose their shit and again, spam Twitter like spergs.
If these people have the 'tism capable of letting them writing so much in such a small amount of time, then they have something they can do with their lives. Shitty social media and the lack of gumption to socialize and take a proper stand kills any potential these folks have. Especially when they squander it all on trying to be the best at probably one fighting game.

Honestly, anybody so deeply invested in content made, marketed for, and consumed primarily by children has some issue going on. When it gets to the community level—and children are still involved—it just makes it worse. You see it in pokemon, smash, mlp (back in the day), and even mtg (to a degree, though it has its own issues that popped up over the past few years).
Seriously, what well-adjusted adult involves themselves in fantasy activities where they interact with minors like this? Imagine walking into your office job and telling your colleague "oh yeah this weekend was fun, I competed against this 14 year old on a video game in front of a bunch of sweaty men, then we all went to an afterparty together." Shit's fucking weird for a reason.

The headline says it all. Do these jokers honestly think that if Nintendo monitored the competitive scene like a nanny that it would stomp out behavior like this? Nintendo did not make the competitive scene or cultivated the degenerate culture that goes in the Smash competitive scene, the people who organize these tournaments did. They should have fixed this years ago before cancel culture became so prominent. Now they have to live with the fact that there likely won't be a notable competitive scene anymore. Local tournaments, maybe, but nothing with the notoriety of EVO (D1 of all people got cancelled).

Regarding EVO, Smash has to my recollection always caused problems in the EVO scene. Mostly because of Melee's autistic need to use really old CRT TVs because of the whole input delay thing. You can't just use normal TVs you need bulky CRT TVs to play Melee "properly". Along with other stupid bullshit like needing to ensure no one brings modded controllers because their is some weird glitch that makes doing certain inputs in one direction impossible/more difficult then another direction and their is a mod that fixes it. To my recollection this is typically not allowed because of the slippy slope of letting people mod controllers might cause actual cheating.
So Smash has always, especially Melee, been a total pain in the ass to run at EVO. Smash 4 also caused a shitshow due to the whole dumb bayonetta boo fest during its last year as a competitive game causing both players to purposefully troll the grand finals. It was always speculated that EVO hates having Smash around due to how much disconnect Smash has from the rest of the FGC and how much bending over backwards they do to make Smash run to the standards the competitors want. So this couldn't have happened at a worse time with EVO trying to restructure itself due to its own allegations, now is the absolute best time to bury the Smash scene for a very long time if not forever.
Only person I really bad for is Mew2King, having to most likely accept that the competitive scene he has been a part of for years will die after embarrassing himself before the world due to his issues just to defend himself from a dumb rumor. Plus he is close friends with Zer0, so if Zer0 gets pushed to an heroing like people here speculate then I don't even want to imagine how he'll react to that.

It's easy to just look at Pokemon or other children-related hobbies and single them out. However, plenty other games and platforms suffer from degeneracy problems. The scene Sky Williams used to be active in was League of Legends, and that game has had no shortage of content creators having sketchy behavior at events or in their personal lives. The content creator sphere as a whole has issues with predators, which includes child diddlers that we're talking about. People are quick to forget other content creator collectives like That Guy With The Glasses having problems that feel like they shouldn't exist.
Many, many more allegations have been levied at Twitch streamers, Twitch staff, talent agencies like Online Performers Group and some other video game-related groups in the past few weeks.
It's almost as if video games and entertainment media attract a special crowd of sex pests who are incapable of socializing.
Simple question. When an online personality that streams on Twitch, posts on Youtube, and plays a video game, who's fault is it when the public discovers that they brought back 15-16 years olds to their hotel room off-venue to play doctor with? Is it the fault of the hotel, the company that made the video game, Twitch, Youtube, the event's management?
Events/conventions have had rules for years to kick out people who have this sort of behavior. And more often than not, the act happens outside the events themselves.

I didn't make the connection, I edited the post to add that last part about VoiD. In retrospect, it's funny that spilling water on a keyboard is what he resorted to. It's not exactly what I had in mind from a guy who threatens people to break their personal belongings.
