Fanmade Pokémon Designs (Fakemon) - Tracers, garbage designers, and of course, furries

Even ignoring the high quality of the designs, gamefreak still makes them clever. Infernape's gold parts reference sun wukong (that's why it's fighting type) and torterra is based on dinosaurs and the world turtle. Temtem's starters are so forgetable they dont even look like "starters". It's so bad i genuinely got confused and had to look it up who they were and i still got their types wrong.

Like, look at these colors. Can anyone blame me for thinking it's fire?

Melee has no real color and varies wildly. Crystal is the worse cause sometimes it's green others it's red. These types dont even have any rules among themselves. The crystal types are not minerals but animals with a few rocks sticking out. The mushroom mon is not actually nature type. I dont know what the fuck "neutral" means because there only 1 pure neutral and others are a neutral/crystal or neutral/melee. Digital are straight up human made machines but they look like animals?

It's so messy. Sure, those cheap mobile ripoffs have shit designs but ripping off pokemon at least makes their types easy to understand.

The monkey trio is based on the 3 wise monkeys (see, hear, speak no evil) but there is a rare fourth budhist monkey that represents "do no evil". Also, despite the hate their evolutions get, they're still themed around it and simply take it to the next level by having their designs look like bancho (foul mouthed ), biker (hears no one) and girly/gal (likes fashion).

What i'm saying is, while the idea might sound unnecessary at first, it doesnt actually break their theme. A fourth eletric monkey with their arms crossed would be really clever.
Alright, these aren’t finalized sprites so I can work with that, kinda forgot about that 4th do no evil!
It's alright, though, I feel that "Panzap" and "Simizap" (Yes, that's my name for them) should have a more unique look to him. Like maybe give it some spikier hair to compliment the Lighting bolts.
Alright, I figured I should give more spikes to them, I was just dicking around.

I just realized that the Pan and Simi monkeys have a their suffix words have four letters.

So I think "Pan/Simitase" or "Pan/Simistun" would be a more fitting name.

We did it.
A Pokemon based off of Lego bricks.

Second pass of Panshock (that’s it’s name according to my phone documents) and I think I accidentally made it way too much of a fighting type and or broke the do no evil part, what do you guys think?

Also that thing has wonderguard as it’s hidden ability. Guess what is one of the most common types? Exactly

Post badly designed fanmade gmaxes because somehow so many people miss the point of them.

Gmaxes like these look more like redesigns, forms or mega evos. There is absolutely no sense of kaiju/skyscraper/gigantism in them.

Just a tip, the monkey trio has identical ear fur, only their inner shape changes and they're not skin coloured. Your "pants" also look like sear's triangular "flamey" design but i cant think other way for an eletric pattern. It doesnt need to wear "pants" tho, as seen by simipour,

The 4th wise monkey is generally depicted hugging his balls because the "evil" in "do no evil" is seen as pleasure.

If you want to achieve the do no evil aspect, you should try to achieve the same idea while avoiding any sexual implications. My suggestion would either be drawing with

1-Hands together down in front of crotch but make it look more polite.
2-Hand together behind the back giving the implication of handcuffing (literally cant do evil).
3-Arms crossed in an X shape because X in japanese symbolizes "no", "wrong", "cancel", etc. It originally meant literally "no deal" because of a game show so it represents "cant do" in a way. It looks like this:

(Yes, there are emojis of this.) It would also look like a cool pokemon stance regardless.

Thanks! I was trying to make it static like and idk how I confused the inner ear fluff and skin color

I don't know, I think they look pretty good. More like Megas, yeah, but I don't think they're bad designs at all.

I concur that these aren't bad designs (I especially like Luxray's glowing bone marks), but they don't really look like G-maxes, they look like mega evolutions. I don't really like Gardevoir's ribbons though, they make the design feel a bit crowded.
Especially Chandelure. Although, I'm not sure why they chose to give gardevoir the knight theme instead of Gallade.
Probably because of what Machoke Me Daddy said, and the fact that its Japanese name is Sirnight?

Speaking of which, this thread needs more bad mega evolutions.

You just added a stupid-looking yellow crest, a long tail and a creepier face. Seems like tacking a few extra accessories onto the Pokemon without changing much else is a common trap these designers fall in to.

Bad Mega Evolutions, you say? What about the overdesigned, where we just slap accessories everywhere!

Let's also talk about bad fanmade evolutions to existing Pokemon!

So many of these really miss the mark of the pokemon's lore/reason it looks way it does. Like giving Zorua a normal quadroped fox form completely ignores the fact its supposed to be human-like due to the fact it mimics humans so well. The only decent one in that video was the castform one, as I could see them adding a sandstorm castform without it mismatching the other weather forms.

Reminds me of when a new Pokemon is revealed causing people to draw fanmade evolutions that are just “a bigger X”. It’s really lazy.

Especially the starter evolutions. The majority of them borrow way too much from the first stage, and they end up just looking like they grew up.

The first stages aren't awful, but over-detailed. Then it just devolves into furry waifu shit. In fact, the description for the first one contains this bit from the artist.

Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed yet, about 95% of my fakemons' final evolutions will just be waifumon. What can I say? I like me a well designed waifumon.

"Well designed"

The first one looks like one of those sexualized versions of FNAF characters and the second one is something you'd see in a scammy mobile MMO.

I feel like people keep getting different animal collection games mixed up when they try to design/redesign things in the style of an existing game. Pokemon is recognizable for its simple, clean designs. Digimon is more the one for designs which can be very overcluttered, but sometimes still work depending. This style is reminding me of Neopets a little, sort of cartoonish with bright colors and thick lines.

I mean, this looks like something I'd see from some Neopets-like website, so it succeeds there. But, would I really call this a Pokemon? It doesn't exactly follow the design rules and elements you'd see in Pokemon, especially when these are straight up wearing clothes--

Oh wait.

Oh wait.
Machamp and Hitmonchan aren't over-detailed or blatantly pandering to a specific fetish like those are, though. Those Fakemon designs took the Buneary-Lopunny approach but applied lots of Digimon-esque details.
