It does matter.

The news media should serve the function of informing the people, not misleading them. And besides, it's a combination of factors. The fact that people act this way is due to social media and the strong cult of personality that the left-wing built behind Obama (we won't see the impact of Tramp's COP until he gets out of office; that's always the determining factor); the media continues to deliver narratives that approve of this mentality.

It doesn't matter because how things should be has no bearing on how they are, is my point there. Ideally we wouldn't have a sensationalist 24 hour media cycle that cares more about Trump's latest stupid tweet than the Chinese committing genocide and shit, but that's where we're at.

So why not change that status quo?

With what? You can go to a barnes and noble and buy hundreds of well written, well researched, books on every aspect of economics and politics right now if you want. It's not like "good information" is some closely guarded commodity. The actual problem is Americans don't give a fuck.

Well, no fucking shit. I already read political philosophy and shit in my free time.

The status quo being the obvious which you just stated as "the actual problem".

Probably posted long ago, but I find it fascinating that the 13 Keys this cycle especially depend on what news sources the public consumes. If you stick to liberal MSM, Trump basically fills none of those keys.

There was the fairness doctrine that regulated television. And Reagan got rid of it.

I hate this argument. What is the effective difference between an unregulated media and the media being regulated by a Democrat administration? I'd say exactly zero, but in the latter case there is the power of government behind it, which I'd say is even worse.

Also, a fairness doctrine would be completely useless right now. The left can't even accept the reality of biological sex. Trying to judge fairness about subjective opinions with people who can't even accept objective facts is a fool's errand.

You do have a good point, although even with the MSM's coverage taken into account, there are a few advantages listed Trump has that even CNN and the clickbait mills can't deny.

First off, he is the incumbent.

Second, we don't have any major foreign military failures aside from Afghanistan, which began under Bush and Trump has been actively trying to get us out of.

Third, Biden has no real charisma at all. It's so bad that his best strategy is for his staff to keep him home so he doesn't have another gaffe and they can keep trying to bank on his Obama ties

Plus the whole 13 keys thing apparently just decides who will win the popular vote, not the electoral college vote that actually decides the election.

Crazy culture war insanity is Trump's pathway to the presidency.
Nah, it was his message and charisma.

Here, it will be his message, charisma, his actions, the consideration of the actions of his enemies, and the fact that America hasn't literally collapsed under his administration.

Obama has a knack for choosing winners by roasting them.

I just went back and read the 2016 thread because I was not with you Kiwis on that glorious night of salt.

It's amazing that instead of learning from that, the Democrats have doubled down on that strategy: we aren't giving you a candidate to be excited about, but if you don't vote Democrat then you are a racist, sexist, LGBTQ hating piece of shit.

I did that a few weeks ago. The amazing thing was everyone believed the polls without doubt. I guess it was because the polls were seen as gospel and not fallible. Also Trump was unproven and every one was thinking he was going to lose, big time. People were content with Hillary winning, just because she seemed unstoppable.

Here's some pretty good sum ups if you don't want to go through hundreds of pages.

With Kanye in the running, I wonder what types of skeletons will be dug up? Just off the top of my head, Kim's sex tape and his taking the mic from Taylor swift.
