I've been listening to the TimcastIRL livestream and I feel like I've opened a cabinet and a ton of blackpills poured out on me. I like to be realistic about the world, I always have. My dude, calm down. We're far from all being lost. Tucker Carlson's show has broken the record for most concurrent viewers in cable history, Trump's rallies have also massively broken records for attendance (When online live viewership is taken into account). What you see in support of this shit is a very, very small vocal minority. There was a metric going around on Twitter earlier today mentioning that BLM has been the 'largest movement in us history', totaling about 27 million total attendees to protests and riots across the country.

That's not even equal to the % of the population that BLM is trying to 'benefit', when many, many non-blacks attend these events as well

You also need to keep in mind that many of these (far from all, however) stay as protests, and never really amount to anything more than a few marchers with signs. My point is that you need to keep a good spirit up in times like these, it's how people in the past overcame shit like this.

There were two supporting documents that were not published on the Hennepin County District Court‘s site today after the hearing, the body cam footage being one of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an agreement made by the defense and prosecution not to release the footage until trial or after.

Keith Ellison/the prosecution was originally denying access to the footage to the police union, even though their contract stipulates they must see any footage involving their officers. MN law is also clear that the officers involved are allowed to request and publicize the footage (which is non-public/private to others while an investigation is ongoing) so Ellison was already doing things outside of the law. Putting on my tinfoil hat, Ellison may have said to the defense attorneys that they were only getting the footage if they agreed to not release it to the public.

We have had hate speech laws before in the form of obscenity laws or anti pornography laws when the fundies and kkk ran this country. Just read it and it reads like he had a heart attack or he OD'd. I can't tell whether or not Chauvin put his knee on him immediately when George got on the ground or if it happened after George appears to have voluntarily got on the ground.

Tough read. Even tougher that this thing was blown out of proportion. I'd like to think the cops could handle an intoxicated person better but idk. I'm not a cop, that isn't their job, and idk if I want to live in a country where the state has that type of responsibility. Shitty situation all around made worse by the politicization of it.

The commentary on this is biased, but that would be expected from the Times. The video sources are valid though, and it shows Floyd struggling and resisting (by flopping his large body around like dead weight) officers for minutes before being put on the ground and Chauvin puts his knee on his neck almost immediately after they finally get him on the ground.

I hadn’t seen this footage, but it is from the Park Police body cam. You can see the Park Police vehicle in all of the videos. This officer goes across the street to keep the other people who were in Floyd’s car detained and away from their car. They repeatedly try to get back into the vehicle for unknown reasons.
