Never heard a story about fundies trying to get people fired from their jobs because they didn't believe is Jesus. The most fundies did was get parental advisory stickers on music and vidya. They didn't let their kids read Harry Potter. They didn't try and remove Harry Potter from history so nobody could read it.

Yes, they absolutely wanted to curtail free speech and impose their vision on America, but it wasn't the same level of all-consuming demand that everyone bend the knee that the left has been displaying. There was also a distinct difference in that their motivation was to protect what they saw as an existing society, as opposed to the left quite literally wanting to destroy everything about our society so that they can sculpt a new power structure out of the ashes.

At the very least you can recall that the (often mocked) mantra of the fundies and soccer moms was "Think of the children!" Whereas the current left demands that children be almost literally sacrificed for the whims of the other special interests groups that they've decided are more important.

Saying "They're the exact same because they're both overbearing and full of bluster" is the sort of ridiculous reasoning that the left is currently using to say that all these historical figures are racist oppressors because they lived in the time of racist oppressors.

The other difference, and the point, is that one of them is trying to change the world and make it a better place. The other knows it's a fucked up place and are trying to live their lives and do their own personal good.

Another difference is that at least one side at least has a lose concept of forgiveness or Love The Sinner, Hate The Sin. The other side fully believes that there is no such thing as innocence, only varying degrees of permanent, unforgivable guilt
