But when his true cancellation comes, that might be the deathknel for Anthony. Joji was on TND podcast and Pink Guy had a guess verse on Cal's mixtape. I honestly can't see Joji ever really being cancelled, since there's a clear distinction between the Filthy Frank/Pink Guy characters, and George Miller himself. It's pretty easy to distinguish between his past content and his current output. But for people like Shane Dawson, or Fantano, who post under their real names, not in costume, that distinction doesn't exist as clearly, if at all. Sure, maybe Fantano can say he plays it up or exaggerates for the camera, but without a clear line like Joji/Filthy Frank, it's hard to tell how much is an act, and how much is his genuine persona. I used to like Fantano's music reviews, but ended up unsubscribing since he rarely reviewed music I'm into. It saddens me to see him act like such a bitch on twitter, especially when I did get a kick out of ThisIsThePlan

Anthony Fantano is a personality I'd consider "tolerable" for the most part. I've watched some of his videos, and enjoyed them. Seems fairly reasonable.

And then he does some "h e h g a m e r s" shit when talking about Cancel Culture. What even prompted that? I'd say I'm disappointed, but I'm more bored by his response than anything else.

Personally, I don’t know why you guys liked him to begin with. He’s a boring, lazy reviewer. All he does is use metaphors excessively, use the same music critic terms, makes the coldest of takes, reviews the albums track by track (zzzz), gets facts wrong, and all sorts of clocked in crap. He has no charisma, and his music taste looks like every other RYM user (at least before he went all poptimist). I just don’t get why you guys would give him a slide when you’ve shat on many reviewers (consoomers) of mass-produced media. He’s no different. He’s like a zoomer Gene Shalit except even more insufferable.

I liked that he kept most of videos devoid of political commentary unlike the many reviewers on Pitchfork, Stereogum, etc. (except for some of those anti police texts he added in some of his videos) and he seemed lik a nice guy beforehand. That’s some of the nice things I have to say about him.

Music reviews are so stupid. It’s so easy to find great music without going to some inoffensive, unfunny, forgettable tastemaker like Fantano. He has never had a review that made me think differently about an album I’ve heard. Most of his viewers probably just go straight to the rating in the description. No one gives a shit about what he has to say. It’s really impressive how popular he his considering that being popular on YouTube reviewing music is laughable because it’s so boring even compare to other reviewers in other forms of media, mostly because music is so sensitive to copyright I assume. Plus I’m pretty sure he has a staff that writes his reviews now which kinda sucks tbh.

Other things I don’t like about him:

-He’s buddies with Vaush
-He had this spat with Fiona Apple fans because he gave her latest album a 7 and her fans attacked him. He started calling them all TERFS afterwards. It’s just immature garbage and it was weird because he hardly ever resonds to criticism involving his album reviews.
-He makes really ugly zoomer faces in his thumbnails.
-He sucks H3’s dick
-He opened a Patreon account recently (not that it would have bother me but there was a lot more monetization efforts made by him in last few months)
-He acts like a nice, calm, level headed guy when watching his videos (particularly his Fantano channel) but acts like a combative douchebag on Twitter (IDK if it’s because it’s hard to not sound like an asshole on Twitter but w/e). At least H3 is a mean spirited asshole in his videos along with his Twitter.
-He used pander to people on 4chan and Reddit. Now he panders to white liberals on Twitter and Reddit. Either way, it’s cringe.
-he’s too buddy, buddy with the artists. A lot of critics do this and I’m personally not a fan of that.
-I’m pretty sure he deleted a death spell omega review because he found out they neo nazis or some shit.
-His MCN is complex media. Home of HotOnes and that celebrity shoe shopping shit. I’m not accusing him of payola, he doesn’t need someone to to pay him for good reviews he has an affiliate link on amazon for his popular album reviews. So it’s technically not Payola. Maybe that’s why Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande gets an 8 for some reason. I think it’s also because Robert Christgau shat on him for not having more women on his best of I think.
