so on mobile browsers the press are featuring article after article about corona, the states opening too early, and then occasionally a piece outright blaming trump to subtly paint opinion against him (as subtle as they get anyway) but lately after months of Biden being hidden away to avoid another "you aint black" or pedo moment they launch piece after piece saying Dems will landslide the election. This article by the Guardian is so wrong i felt the need to share it and list some flaws i found
1 theyre conflating approval of the president's job with how likely people are to vote for him
2 they cite polls like the rasmussen which samples a thousand people who are likely voters only, and who are criticized for wild inaccuracy, while stating their polls only target certain voters
3 they think dems dont rest on their laurels when they think theyre likely to win and for some reason think republican voters are discouarged from voting if they see they are likely to lose when its the opposite (im going to vote when i wasnt before even though i know the articles are bs just on the off chance). even though this has always been the exact opposite to reality
4 they cite republicans who iirc already hated trump and with republican legislators being unpopular more for being complicit in democrat blocking or being weak in general its really not impressive to find a few who say they think trump is going to hurt them in elections since theyve said that from the beginning
5 it has what i believe are shit views for an international newspaper being shoved down mobile user's throats and a good deal of those are people like me, and their newspaper is so broke they have to beg for money
6 even their links to other articles are bad since they again conflate americans half heartedly saying "yeah fuck racism its bad" with some brand new strong support en masse with a movement 60 percent of white people see as motivated at least in part by looting and who only 30 percent supported beyond a non commital "please dont cancel me" 'somewhat'
7. at least two of the polls mentioned have a sample size of 2k or under for an election involving millions, they also should know "likely voter" among the left wing is a practically worthless label
edit also i cant help but notice they went super hard on anyone voting for roy moore but now metoo isnt something you should ignore realpolitik for magically, rules for radicals and what not, lefty hypocrites who call everyone out suddenly only think "well we should hear them but the dems need our vote to stop trump" cant help but feel this wouldnt fly if a side they were neutral on or hated had the same excuse for voting in an alleged and therefore actual rapist
