Tencent recently entered exclusive talks to buy Chinese gaming company Leyou, which produces the popular Warframe series of video games, and intends to take the company private.

Leyou confirmed details of the agreement in a Friday press release. Bloomberg, which first reported the deal, noted the Hong Kong-listed company was worth around $1.1 billion before its trade was suspended in the lead-up to the announcement.


China-based tech conglomerate Tencent serves as the world’s largest gaming company by market value, worth around $760 billion. Tencent and its subsidiaries own popular titles including Fortnite, as well as a 40% stake in the publisher of League of Legends.

Bloomberg previously reported that Sony had submitted bids to Leyou’s controlling shareholder Charles Yuk, as had Tencent-backed rivals Zhejiang Century Huatong and iDreamSky.

Trade in Leyou stock, which is up 20% in 2020, is set to resume on Monday. Tencent, on the other hand, is up 40% year-to-date.

How will this affect the rest of the world's Warframe?
 
Thank god I just bought some Tencent stock.

Warframe has been a shitfest here in the West, I doubt it could get worse here. From what I understand it's apparently quite successful in Asia though. Less autistic mods and leadership is my assumption.

Been running it lately, and it's indeed a grind fest.
As with Tencent, this would more be another thing to add to their portfolio, and probably see the game die in a year's time cuz they couldn't spin the CCP in a good light.

They already maintain a separate version of the game for China, so I won't be surprised if they make it longer than a year. They're well acquainted with the taste of chicom cock by now.

As long as AHHHH STRENGTH TO DA GRINNEA voice line doesnt get changed for Vor I'm fine.

Infact the Announcers or Codec Npcs are the one part I would not like changed. Something about their awkward dialog and extreme neck movements like their neck is gonna snap is just too funny to me.

The rest do whatever the hell I dont care i can just stack mad plat in preperation for Tencent and water they do.
