Can someone please explain me why someone would be "nervous and excited" about starting a fast? That phrasing sticks out like a sore thumb.
Because if you're a lardass doing it for the first time, a fast (especially a 28-day water fast) is going to be extremely challenging, for several reasons:
1. You will be
hungry for the first couple of days, and fatties don't handle hunger well.
2. You will be
stressed because your prior source of emotional comfort is now verboten and you need to find a new de-stressor soon
3. You will be
tired because it takes more energy to lug your gunt around than fit people on a good day, and there isn't a lot of energy buzz to subsisting off of one's body fat
But they get excited because, if they succeed, they will lose a prodigious amount of weight (a friend who did a 28 day fast lost
75 lbs doing that, but he was also coming down from 320), and, they hope, will have finally broken their food addiction for good. Sadly, that last step rarely happens and so many of the people doing the fast immediately relapse because abstinence from food doesn't actually address their underlying issues with it, and unlike drug addiction, you kinda have to figure out how to keep eating going forward.
tl&dr; "nervous and excited" makes sense since a fast is basically a self-imposed detox for fatties.
