There's no way that it could be paid for, although you know they'd waste all that money quickly. Hmm, you know, to be fair slave wages should actually be calculated at a rate more comparable to house servants.. they were given room and board, so it would be more like a some pocket change at the end of the year was their lost take home pay.

I know RazorFist is a total sperg about his pulp heroes, but this movie isn't half bad. Just having a masculine Christian as the hero is enough to make it noteworthy and that's definitely something that Hollywood wouldn't allow today. Also, it has a lot of foggy, spooky, Lovecraftian imagery if you're into that sort of thing.

I don't agree that schools fail black kids by design, at least not in the way you're implying.

Black majority schools fail kids because most of the kids and parents don't care about doing well. The number one factor in educational success is parental engagement, both because it's really only parents who can hold their kids accountable and because schools need a robust PTA to fill in financial gaps since there's never enough money from the government.

Some of the kids and parents are motivated to succeed, but if enough kids/parents don't give a shit, it becomes impossible for the motivated kids to do well. The majority of badly behaved kids who don't care mean teachers can't control the classroom. I used to tutor kids on the Lower East Side, and they all complained that their classmates would yell and throw things and be distractions in class all day every day.

The motivated kids technically pass their classes since they turn something in and try to take their exams, but they won't actually have the skills to succeed, not without a ton of remedial learning at the college level.

The way that schools are set up to fail black kids is by setting the bar so low it's through the floor. I could see teachers' unions playing a role in this since low standards also benefit shitty teachers, but I still think it's mainly white guilt and "benevolent" racism that's to blame. Although I won't be sorry to see teachers' unions fuck off forever.

In related news, CBS is promising to have their writers be 40 percent black and indigenous which is going to be categorically impossible unless their affirmative action hires are people who are in no way qualified for the job in education, experience, or temperament. (It would be difficult enough to get the number to 15 percent since black and indigenous Americans are much less likely to go to college.) My assumption is that CBS will just give up, which is too bad because it would be hilarious to see the fallout.

They're usually not blunt. It's more subtle, such as their belief that black people are too stupid, lazy, and violent to succeed in life, which leads white libs to categorize the basics of success as "white supremacy".

Agree with the premise, but "muh underfunded city schools" is a huge lie. The only places this is true are flyover rural school systems that make do with 6-9k/student and hit 95% graduation.

The inner cities of New Jersey, DC, Detroit, and Chicago get 20-25k/student every year, elite private school levels. The "cuts" to education mean they didn't get as much of an increase as last year, but still set a new record high, often as student count is dropping.

Which in turn means they have student/teacher ratios the envy of the richest suburbs. Urban schools are some of the most over funded institutions in existence.
