U.S. Riots of May 2020 over George Floyd and others - ITT: a bunch of faggots butthurt about worthless internet stickers

Where do you all think we will be in 2/5/10/25 years from now? One thing that worries me is that I’m not sure any more. I was 100% sure that brexit would happen and trump would win, from just having a feel for where things were going. But now? I’m just not sure how bad this is going to get.
I keep seeing tiny signs of a flip - the sudden appearance of China-critical articles in the mainstream UK press has been astonishing and to me suggests a sea change from the top. Tiny articles critical of trans ideology, and cancel culture but still nothing mainstream. Covid has been incredibly destabilising (although I thought it’d have a huge impact, I didn’t expect western countries tries to lock down.)

I’d be very interested in hearing where you all think this is headed, short mid and long term. For the first time in a very long time I have no idea where society is going.

Short term, I think that the insanity of progressivism and it's stranglehold on culture will be here to stay for the next year or two. After that, it really depends. If Trump doesn't lose the election, I think it'll get a lot worse before it gets better. What we've been seeing in this weird ramping up from 2016 to present was something I thought akin to the last cry of a dying, injured beast, that the public rebuke of progressivism had been a solid one, and that progressivism (and the neolibs and other assorted cohorts who parrot but not necessarily buy into woke shit) knew damn well it's lifetime as a political vehicle for change was coming to a close.

With the Covid insanity, followed by the Floyd madness? I've reconsidered that point of view, and now see that it served merely as a warning shot before what could be called a death knell was possibly to come - or at least that seems to be the subconscious message that that section of the overton window took from Trump's win. All of this screaming and stamping and gnashing of teeth? It's not because the beast is dying, it's because it's fighting for it's life and still has a chance. Biden, while clearly not being a progressive himself, is part of the section of the political elite in this country who will go happily along with damn near everything they have proposed (like GND, reparations, throwing open the borders, letting illegal aliens vote) because it will give him and his allies carte blanche to pave the way for sweeping, permanent changes that will give governmental power to them. Think PATRIOT on a cocktail of meth, PCP and coke.

After that? Not really sure. Something tells me that the only reason we haven't seen a full-on Mao-esque pouring out of these people doing rioting and supporting this shit into areas outside of major metropolitan areas is that a large amount of people in the suburbs and rural areas are armed. I'm fully convinced that if these assholes were all armed, and could be safe in the assumption that the people living in those areas weren't armed, we'd already either be in a civil war or an attempted takeover of the U.S.

But having said that, the future seems a bit bleak no matter how you slice it, and there's any number of reasons for that that aren't even really going to be fixed by progressivism going down the shitter. Sadly the only way to really "fix" the harm that's been done, would be for the pendulum to swing back in the other direction nearly as far, and it would cause a whole host of it's own problems in doing so that wouldn't be easy to fix either. As far as problems that aren't even solved by that, take for instance that pretty much every world leader is pretty adamant on taking in assholes from the worst shitholes on the planet en masse - left or right. Or that left, right, whatever, they all also seem to be enthusiastic for more spying on their populace for wrongthink and more censorship (of some variety).

Some people don't want to accept or admit it, some people get way too depressed by it, but the fact is that the next few decades are going to just get more shitty and awful from here regardless of what happens. I try to enjoy my days lately, knowing that when it's 2040 and my government mandated security system (that records every audiovisual moment of my home life) gets hacked and has some faggot screaming nigger at me while I was trying to eat my BugLent Green™ protein porridge, and when I call to complain I'm told that they need to check my ethnicity first in the census database to figure out what priority my call has, I'll be able to let my eyes glaze over and remember the shit I did back when the world was less crazy fondly.

So Trump wins his second term, sure, but what happens in 2024? There's no one with the charisma to replace trump, the boomers will have grown complacent, thinking they already won by simply voting for Trump and the the liberals were "owned", so a new democratic candidate will rise.

I could see Ted Cruz or some other Republican who embraced the shitposting life trying to slide in and be the GHWB to Trump's Reagan.

are you aware of why Brave even exists?
Some people don't want to give Google more power. It uses the rendering engine Chrome uses. If we allow for one web broswer (or one rendering engine) to take full control of the net we will go back to the same issues we had in the 00s when IE was in the high 90s in terms of usage.

Maybe all of the above is a big red flag that humankind has reached its peak and through technological advances, overpopulation through the developments in science and sanitation we are now in the shit.

I dunno. It is a year for the record books. All we need is an alien invasion and i think that is most disasters ticked.

The hero we need!

If all the old guard is dead on both sides, who will replace them?
Yes, that's definitely a problem. Trump needs a successor (that isn't Jared or Ivanka) lined up.

My tentative suggestions would include, but are not limited to: Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, Devin Nunes, Matt Gaetz, Martha McSally, Tom Cotton, Ron DeSantis, Elise Stefanik, Steve Scalise, and Dan Crenshaw (even though he has a neocon streak, he might be electable).

In historic move, Asheville approves reparations for Black residents

ASHEVILLE - In an extraordinary move, the City Council has apologized for the city's historic role in slavery, discrimination and denial of basic liberties to Black residents and voted to provide reparations to them and their descendants.

The 7-0 vote came the night of July 14.

"Hundreds of years of black blood spilled that basically fills the cup we drink from today," said Councilman Keith Young, one of two African American members of the body and the measure's chief proponent.

"It is simply not enough to remove statutes. Black people in this country are dealing with issues that are systemic in nature," Young said.

The unanimously passed resolution does not mandate direct payments. Instead it will make investments in areas where Black residents face disparities.

"The resulting budgetary and programmatic priorities may include but not be limited to increasing minority home ownership and access to other affordable housing, increasing minority business ownership and career opportunities, strategies to grow equity and generational wealth, closing the gaps in health care, education, employment and pay, neighborhood safety and fairness within criminal justice," the resolution reads.

The resolution calls on the city to create the Community Reparations Commission, inviting community groups and other local governments to join. It will be the commission's job to make concrete recommendations for programs and resources to be used.

Councilwoman Sheneika Smith, who is Black, said the council had gotten emails from those "asking, 'Why should we pay for what happened during slavery?'"

"(Slavery) is this institution that serves as the starting point for the building of the strong economic floor for white America, while attempting to keep Blacks subordinate forever to its progress," said Smith.

Councilman Vijay Kapoor who has often split with Young and Smith on police and budget issues said he supported the measure for moral reasons. But he said skeptics could look to the "practical reason": data showing showing large disparities between African Americans and other Asheville residents.

"We don't want to be held back by these gaps," Kapoor said. "We want everyone to be successful."

The council allowed an hour of public comment on the measure. Many who were not able to speak before the vote waited for another hour-long comment period afterward, pushing the meeting late into the night. Most were in support.

Rob Thomas, community liaison for the Racial Justice Coalition which led the push for reparations, thanked the council.

"This is a really, really good gesture as far as the foundation of what we can build. The potential of what can come out of this document is amazing."

Increasing generational wealth — something African Americans were deprived of through economic and regulatory discrimination — should be the focus, he said.

It was also important that Buncombe County's government join, Thomas said, to ensure issues weren't lost between the county and city.

The county's Board of Commissioners which governs all of Buncombe including municipal residents is not clearly behind the reparations measure though it has a 4-3 Democratic majority.

A few callers spoke against reparations, one linking it to a Venezuelan government plot and others saying Black Lives Matter was Marxist.

"My white privilege is I grew up on a farm, we milked cows, we bailed hay. That was my white privilege," said a man identifying himself as Eddy from West Asheville.

But David Greenson said white people like him needed Black people to get reparations "because our souls are in jeopardy."

"I am responsible for the beating of Johnnie Rush in August of 2017," he said referencing the infamous beating of an unarmed Black Asheville pedestrian by a police officer. "I may not have hit him or tased him or choked him, but I paid the man who did."

4 options:
1) This is 40k, Trump really is the GE and you won't have to worry about it.

2) This is the start of the Trump monarchy and Don jr. takes his place

3) You cant cuck the Tuck

4) A new challenger appears. One who will not be as nice as Trump will make him look like Lenin to the left and the media.(most likely option.)

We have always been in line for a swingback. It always happens. The modern woke left is stupid enough to believe that all change is "progress" in one direction along a straight line, from "hate" to "liberal" to "progressive," but that's never been the case. It just so happens that most of the woke left, beyond just indoctrination, has grown up in an era where the GOP was told to give up on the culture war and to just try and be a restraining force on the left instead of putting forth their own ideas -- because this advanced globohomo and Soros' plans better than conservatives or traditionalists or nationalists in America.

Part of the problem the DNC has is they have a bunch of very old idiots like Pelosi who have refused to give up any power to build up the next generation. So you have a huge gap between the ancient neo-libs + old Marxists and everyone else. At the same time, you have radical Marxists (thanks to 40+ years of indoctrination in the colleges) that have decided to perform Entryism on the very fucking left itself in the US -- the Justice Democrats, the DSA, etc.

At the same time, on the right, they have a serious crab pot problem where if anyone steps ahead of the rest they're knifed in the back from the right, from RINO/moles on the right, and from the left. But Trump proved you can shitpost your way into power. To put that a more professional way, Trump has revealed the importance that Persuasion is to a modern politician. And he did it while also destroying two political dynasties in the US -- Clinton and Bush.

So 2024 and beyond? I suspect the Neo-Cons and Neo-Libs are slowly going to bleed out. I suspect that Trump will inspire entire generations of shitposters on the right entering politics. And the left, the left's future is AOC and the Squad. Their base, at least a veto proof minority, wants "diverse" candidates, which means brown and female. This is going to clash hard with a growing sentiment of white men who are realizing how fucked things are for them and, while they can't express it, are probably starting to embrace IdPol.

Someday in the not terribly far future, we're going to see a GOP candidate shut down a frothing with rage Marxist candidate on the left with an "Ok Karen" or "Ok Boomer." And you're going to see CNN lose their goddamned minds pretending that it was the most racist and sexist thing they could ever say in history.

Is Bill the Butcher accepting us Papists, now that he can see his fears of Jesuit shenanigans were unfounded?
If anything, I think those distrusting Jesuits have been proven more than correct.
I don't know where people are getting this idea that Russia and China are scared of the U.S. They're laughing at our disfunction and believe our democracy and our liberalism has made us weak. They are probably right too. In a hundred years Russia and China will still have functioning, safe, racially homogenous societies, the United States will be lucky to exist by then.
The US may be on the decline, but we still have retard strength and will for quite some time. The loonier our government gets, the more other countries should be concerned over what they might do either because of ideology or control by a rival power.
To be fair, Apartheid South Africa threw Rhodesia under the bus as well. They really were hated on all sides for some reason. If it was allowed to develop as planned (they were going to gradually transition to integrated rule, and even did so under the Internal Settlement in March 1978, but that was promptly rejected by the U.K. and the U.S. because it was an agreement with black moderates in the vein of democratic Botswana instead of communist Mozambique, and did not include the Maoist ZAPU under Mugabe and ZANU under Joshua Nkomo - Uncle Sam literally sided with the Maoists on this one wtf) there's a chance it would have become a developed agrarian country on the level of New Zealand or Australia, but nope.
Well there was a certain group of very powerful people who really hated Rhodesia and worked closely (for and against) South Africa, the UK, and the US.

I thought brave sucked and just used you to mine goofycoin?

AFAIK the tokens are from advertisment views and are not mined by browser users, just funny money. I could be totally wrong about that. I get why people don't want to use a chromium based browser although I don't really understand the technical aspects of anything.

My point was more about how, IIRC, the founder(?) of Brave was a big player (CEO or on the Board or something like that) at Firefox but was kicked out because he didn't believe in gay marriage.

The Athenian Empire said the same thing. The Persian Empire said the same thing. The Egyptian Empire said the same thing. The Roman Empire said the same thing. The Byzantine Empire said the same thing. The Ottoman Empire said the same thing. The Aztec Empire said the same thing. The Holy Roman Empire said the same thing. The Soviet Empire said the same thing. The British Empire said the same thing.

The US empire is currently saying it and surely it will be different this time!

Look if i can get my old menu editing extension back I will switch so hard, dialing my right click menu in so tight that it replaces every menu in the browser while also being trimmed of fat and organized functionally was the best I've had qol-wise. and when firefox dropped all but the useless extensions because they didn't want rack space wasted on a bug and virus skimmer it was a dark day.

@deeplyhigh let us know how that bodycam footage was.

Also livestream of cops testifying about the riots in the Minnesota Senate
Officer talking about how the rioters were throwing shit at them including tennis balls filled with concrete, and how MPD was not allowed to put on their riot gear
"One officer received a projectile to his groin area"

Well, seems someone prevented the cops from getting their riot gear from the warehouse for 3-4 days when this kicked off because 'it looked too militaristic'. And some who had their own weren't allowed to either

Edit: When asked if they've ever experienced a mayor or governor who didn't call for assistance, she said that that other agencies told to be on standby somewhere but never got the order to respond to anything while the cops where being attacked.

The Athenian Empire said the same thing.
The The Peloponnesian War lasted over 30 years.
The Roman Empire said the same thing.
The Roman Empire wrecked shit for an extremely long time. Even after it was sacked multiple times and eventually devolved, it's successors remained a power center of the world.
The Byzantine Empire said the same thing.
The Byzantine Empire was losing territory under their direct control for 200 years before Constantinople fell. The US has really only been increasing their projection of hard and soft power throughout the world since WW2, even if it is slower than some regional rivals.
The Ottoman Empire said the same thing.
The fall of the Ottoman Empire was percipitated by an economic and technological decline, the same can't be said of the US yet although the loss of our industrial base is worrying.
The Aztec Empire said the same thing.
The Aztec Empire had no idea about the rest of the world. We can directly compare countries in real time.
The Holy Roman Empire said the same thing.
The Holy Roman Empire lasted for 1000 years as a "barbarian" successor to Rome, and was defeated by direct invasion by a technologically and economically superior military.
The Soviet Empire said the same thing.
The Soviet Empire did indeed have retard strength till the end. Russia remains a regional power and rival because of their strength.
The British Empire said the same thing.
Great Britain hasn't exactly been wiped off the map either.
