Do we actually know that Jazz's surgery was a train wreck? I don't think surgery is ever a path to happiness, but a large section of trans people survive and do okay - or just have lame results but can still have normal lives outside of the bedroom.
I know his surgery was experimental to start with and there was no tissue due to lack of growth, and that there was tearing, but do we know-know that he's permanently in pain?

The fact that it keeps falling apart and requires him to get corrective surgery after corrective surgery to put his frankengina back together after it falls out for the umpteenth time shows that something is terribly, terribly wrong.
The difference here is that Jazz largely can't do normal stuff due to his surgery. The meat between his legs is so fragile he can't really do much physically. As far as I know, the average trans-gina is a hideous abomination but their owners can generally do normal stuff.

How do we know his crotch is so bad? I thought it fell apart once, in the show as it was just healing. There was at lease one corrective surgery, but... was it cosmetic? From the troon circles I've interacted in, cosmetic revisions aren't that uncommon.

He’s had two revision surgeries and is scheduled for a third. That’s four surgeries in under two years. On the show Bowers and Ting have stared the reasons for revision are not totally cosmetic. The first time was within weeks of the initial surgery aka the infamous wheelchair visit (revision surgery #1) The second time it was due to the remaining erectile tissue blocking Jazz’s urethra causing him to piss all over himself (revision surgery #2).
Even with the show not flashing it on a neon sign, this surgery has been a colossal fuck up since day one.

The fact alone that Jazz did not have enough skin tissue down below to so much as cobble together a "vagina" should say enough about the state of what the butchers gave him. I imagine that, whatever it is, it is always infected, always trying to seal up, always tight and painful, and always threatening Pop 2: Electric boogaloo.
I mean just look at the pics of Jazz's surgery scars. I don't think regular trans people have scars that extended. Not to mention that everyone on the show that listens about Jazz's procedure, even while shilling, express discomfort at what happened. It mostly just looks like Jazz got flayed, mangled, and hastily put back together by a couple of quacks who didn't have, and STILL don't have, any idea what they are doing because maybe performing a FUCKING MAJOR SURGERY on a child with stunted bits isn't a good idea.
Given all those factors, the chances of Jazz's vagoona not being a total shitshow are negative infinity.

An invasive and experimental surgery was used to butcher his dick and look how that turned out. The only fix is letting the mess heal shut.
Wasn't srs supposed to make him happy? It's like genital butchering doesn't heal mental illness. He was miserable with dick & balls and is (perhaps even more) miserable now.

I'm not entirely sure that letting it heal shut naturally would help. That thing isn't just made of flayed dick but also peritoneal membrane tissue where it isn't supposed to be; wouldn't it keep producing fluid and become a festering cavity at risk for peritonitis or cancer (even more than it already is)? To even begin fixing him they'd probably have to bring him into the operating theater yet again to rip that shit out first, and there's no way mommy is letting him admit defeat like that after all the hard work and money she's put in!

that is because jazz had a baby dick from puberty blockers, neovagina surgery on puberty blocked kids is experimental and very different than SRS on males that went through puberty. The surgeons had no idea what they were doing because no one had done it before.
There is an episode that comes in after the 2nd surgery where jazz remarks that their genitals don't look like a vagina. The flayed thigh skin was used for faux labia minora iirc. They also had to revise the "clitoris" because it was up way too high and looked extremely weird. There also needs to be surgical revisions so jazz can pee without it spraying out at a weird angle.
