Where have you ever seen him say he used to be a liberal? For that matter, where have you seen him claim to be a never Trumper? Jim's always been somewhat apolitical, though not completely disinterested. He doesn't care about social issues, but leans right otherwise. He's explained this quite a bit. I think people overestimate Jim's interest in politics. You have to remember that Jim's a Gen X'er, he naturally doesn't care about politics as much as Boomers, Millennials, or Zoomers.
