My question is whether not releasing the body cam could be used in court as an argument that media coverage has deliberately been allowed to subvert a trial? Viewing the public video, an observer would reasonably conclude that chauvins actions contributed to the death in a far bigger way. Viewing body cam as well puts more context in and reduces the apparent contribution.
Could a good lawyer argue that this has twisted public opinion so much that a fair trial is impossible?
The second question is why the footage was not released at the start. It’s procedure to do so right (?) Not doing so is bad enough, but not doing so while the country burns because of it - how can that be justified? Who made that call, officially and in reality? Was there influence exerted to not release it? This needs investigation too

From the sound of it, things will go the way Trayvon Martin's case went. The media will ignore everything presented at trial only to race bait when the cops are found not guilty.

I know we are figuring that the trial will be rigged but I could see it going either way. They get convicted it shows people "we will destroy innocents for these things." They walk away and the world gets more riots.

I would be surprised if the lawyers involved didn't ask for a change in venue (some jurisdictions also allow you to pick your pool outside of where the event happened while still keeping the action in the same place) at best this is some version of manslaughter. Not Murder 1. But you're going to be looking for some brave jurors.

The thing that makes me most suspicious about these clips is how calm the protesters and filmers sound. These people freak the fuck out if a cop merely pushes them or grabs at a flashlight, and they go into hysterical shrieking mode whenever someone gets arrested.

But in both videos, they just lamely recite bullet points. "You're violating his rights. How are we supposed to know who you are? Use your words."
