A transgender girl accused of assaulting two students at a Texas high school alleges that she was being bullied and was merely fighting back

Shocking video shows a student identified by police as Travez Perry violently punching, kicking and stomping on a girl in the hallway of Tomball High School.

The female student was transported to the hospital along with a male student, whom Perry allegedly kicked in the face and knocked unconscious.

According to the police report, Perry - who goes by 'Millie' - told officers that the victim has been bullying her and had posted a photo of her on social media with a negative comment.

One Tomball High School parent whose daughter knows Perry said that the 18-year-old had been the target of a death threat.

'From what my daughter has said that the girl that was the bully had posted a picture of Millie saying people like this should die,' the mother, who asked not to be identified by name, told DailyMail.com.

When Perry appeared in court on assault charges, her attorney told a judge that the teen has been undergoing a difficult transition from male to female and that: 'There's more to this story than meets the eye.'

Perry is currently out on bond, according to authorities.

The video of the altercation sparked a widespread debate on social media as some claim Perry was justified in standing up to her alleged bullies and others condemn her use of violence.

The mother who spoke with DailyMail.com has been one of Millie's most ardent defenders on Facebook.

'I do not condone violence at all. But situations like this show that people now a days, not just kids, think they can post what they want. Or say what they want without thinking of who they are hurting,' she said.

'Nobody knows what Millie has gone through, and this could have just been a final straw for her. That is all speculation of course because I don't personally know her or her family, but as a parent and someone who is part of the LGBTQ community this girl needs help and support, not grown men online talking about her private parts and shaming and mocking her.'

One Facebook commenter summed up the views of many, writing: 'This was brutal, and severe! I was bullied for years and never attacked anyone!'

Multiple commenters rejected the gender transition defense and classified the attack as a male senselessly beating a female.

One woman wrote on Facebook: 'This person will get off because they're transitioning. This is an animal. She kicked, and stomped, and beat...not okay. Bullying is not acceptable, but kicking someone in the head. Punishment doesn't fit the crime.'

I'm beating a dead horse here but why, the fuck, do these sorts of diagnoses exist? Psychology is already on thin ice these days with all the conspiracies going on but when they up and create retarded false conditions like this it just makes everyone more suspicious of getting into therapy.

A chunk of it has to do with insurance. You have to diagnose someone with something in order for insurance to pay for treatment, even if they just need somebody to talk to.

For the record, for the purpose of the diagnosis for ODD, graffiti and other cosmetic vandalism do not count as destruction of property, so that's allowed under ODD. Nor does bullying other kids count as aggression towards people, they have to actually physically injure someone. It's a very stupid diagnosis with nuances that are not clear from the description.

Try comparing it with Conduct Disorder sometime for even more fun!

I'm reliably informed (by every movie made between the 30's to the 1980's) that the appropriate treatment for female hysteria is for a calm, rational male authority figure to take her firmly by the shoulders and shake vigorously while saying, 'pull yourself together woman!'. If that fails to work, he may then apply a short sharp corrective slap to the face, which usually shocks some sense back into the female brain.
Similarly, the oldest reliable treatment for stroppy teens with 'ODC' has traditionally required the application of a boot to the arse.

Most behaviour like this is born of family dynamics, abuse, poor upbringing etc. We medicalise kids for being kids - can’t sit still at a desk when you’re four? ADHD! It why on earth should four year old kids be stuck at desks they should be outside and running around playing. We medicalise boys being boisterous. Teens being grumpy and people being melancholic. It’s insanity.
If you want an interesting read have a look at ‘ madness sanity and the family’ by R D Laing. It is transcripts of interviews with schizophrenic young women and it show you how the family scapegoats these kids and literally drives them mad.
The lines between ‘real’ diagnoses like schizophrenia, depression and bipolar are blurred to say the least. Again I think we will look back at the current era of psychiatry with revulsion.

This is such a stupidly common diagnosis in children + teens, usually just for saying "no" to whatever higher authority says. It's really disgusting how they hand out the diagnosis like candy, even if this kid was in juvie.
Psychiatrists and other similar doctors often use this diagnosis against patients so they can tell them "you're only refusing to do ___ because of your diagnosis" or whatever gaslighting they feel like to get them to take medication or do something they may not feel comfortable with.
Also 2nding the "why don't they take lithium" response, or at least something that can calm them down without being too harsh like lithium OR fucking ESTROGEN of all things. And that's even if the child was that off the walls while staying at juvie in the first place.
When you get medication as a child, even in situations like juvie, psych, etc, there is ALWAYS a parental guardian required there to agree and sign paperwork. And if they can't make it in person they make accommodations for phone meetings. There's no excuse for no parental consent.
Apologizes if I sound like I crazy anti medical person, I just hate seeing cases like this happen. Shit breaks my heart.
Call me a schizo paranoid autist but I bet you $50 worth of bitcoin the doctor who prescribed this, or the psychiatrist who made the diagnosis was trying to write some study on it for whatever reason and let it slip by without anybody noticing. I've seen it happen before. But I am also in a lot of ghetto hospital environments so my experience might not be the most common

The parents also need to give informed consent on the child's behalf, emphasis on the term informed. The attorney can easily bring this case to the IRB of the doctor's institution and make him lose his license.

Big Psych and Big Pharma will, hopefully, be to this generation what Snake Oil Salesmen were to the 19th and 20th Centuries. It's not the first time people have been sold bullshit in the name of SCIENCE. The central problem of psychiatry is that it has something of a credibility crisis among the medical professions. Psychiatrists have been frothing at the mouth for decades to find something, anything that justifies the diagnoses they make and their paychecks.

One of the biggest problems in the whole field is that there are simply no objective tests for anything, they have to rely on inter-rater reliability as a way to validate whether a given diagnosis is actually a thing that exists. The logic boils down to: "eh, if enough clinicians say it exists, it exists."

So some psychiatrists criticize the DSM because "there's not enough stuff about biological testing in there," except... they're criticizing it for not having something that literally doesn't exist. Biological testing for mental health diagnoses is basically worthless, because nothing specifically maps to Disorder X and Disorder X only.

Meanwhile it is the non-MD portions of the profession, the psychologists and therapists, who do all the real work, that isn't just dispensing pills.
