Statement on CBP Response in Portland, Oregon

Release Date:
July 17, 2020

"While the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) respects every American’s right to protest peacefully, violence and civil unrest will not be tolerated. Violent anarchists have organized events in Portland over the last several weeks with willful intent to damage and destroy federal property, as well as injure federal officers and agents. These criminal actions will not be tolerated.

CBP agents had information indicating the person in the video was suspected of assaults against federal agents or destruction of federal property. Once CBP agents approached the suspect, a large and violent mob moved towards their location. For everyone’s safety, CBP agents quickly moved the suspect to a safer location for further questioning. The CBP agents identified themselves and were wearing CBP insignia during the encounter. The names of the agents were not displayed due to recent doxing incidents against law enforcement personnel who serve and protect our country.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its components will continue to work tirelessly to reestablish law and order. The Federal Protective Service (FPS) is the lead government agency that CBP personnel are supporting. CBP personnel have been deployed to Portland in direct support of the Presidential Executive Order and the newly established DHS Protecting American Communities Task Force (PACT). CBP law enforcement personnel have been trained and cross designated under FPS legal authority 40 U.S.C. § 1315."

CBP just put out a statement concerning that "Use your words" video. It was real; they're the ones who arrested him.
I'll retract my earlier doubt then. About fucking time.

Whatever they pay people to be dispatch officers for the emergency services, it is not enough.

Not long, I'd bet. Once things start fucking with folks daily lives it would hopefully not take much to get them pissed enough they stop taking shit. That said, look at the situation and the shit we're used to taking. Its like boiling a frog I guess. Only now the water's good and hot and we've just been dropped in the pan and boy, are we pissed off. Normal life has been upended for months, people have lost jobs, lost money, lpst livelihoods, and not been able to live freely. And they're on a short fuse at best.

They are lucky the country is shut down and responsible people are forced inside. They have free reign to cause chaos without affecting a lot of ppl directly for now. This shutdown needs to end so more people have to directly face this bullshit.

The part that worries me is that they covered their names because they're worried they'll be doxxxxed, which while totally understandable, can lead to really nasty consequences later on that can be handwaved away. I just know this will happen.

I hadn't checked up on Nancy for awhile. She, uh.. She's gotten pretty extreme (A) with the rhetoric lately, apparently.

The most surprising thing about this is they spelled "doxing" correctly.
They have my vote. :semperfidelis:

You'd think with all the rioting going on, and how local police are outnumbered, this would be a warning to NOT blindly destroy property. No, they asked for this. Next time, don't have anarchists and looters take over your cities.

I finally got screencaps of emails sent to me from my other sister's school email. She sent them to me with all personal information uncovered (:stress:) but hopefully I covered everything.

Edit: I realized I worded this oddly. My sister's school sent these emails to her (the Google one is forwarded from staff). She then sent them to me, in shock that they were sent to her. I then uploaded them here to share with all y'all.

Time to transfer.

And logistically speaking- the Pacific is a big ocean. How much fuel and materiel can they hope to get across that distance for an invasion without the US Navy intervening? As much as I'm sure Portland and San Fran would welcome their new ChiCom overlords, there's not really any way to sneak an effective invasion force across that much distance unless they've got some kind of crazy futuristic submarines that can not only evade detection but field effective air, ground, and sea forces and their support systems. Not to downplay strength in numbers, but I really doubt China can keep an invasion going for very long, especially once US and allied forces mobilize on home turf.

There is not really an effective staging area for a sustained ChiCom invasion. The Japanese were able to strike Pearl Harbor- and keep in mind, this was only a hit and run attack rather than an invasion- because they occupied several Pacific Islands as forward bases. Things like Operation Overlord worked because the UK was a very convenient staging ground for an invasion of France. An army travels on its stomach, and if you can't feed them, they can't fight.

Yeah, if Americans decided to go full on guerrilla, the Chinese military would be so fucked it would be funny. People don't realize how much of America is inhospitable and just how many chokepoints it has, because on a map it looks relatively flat. Until you try to cross the major river systems or the Rockies and Appalachians. God help any invader who tries to go through Appalachia.

They could maybe hold the West Coast shitty cities. Briefly. Then they run out of ammo in the area of the country where scrounging from the locals is the hardest to roll into an area of the country where people regularly hunt and long distance shoot.

The dinks aren't that dumb.

There's dozens of other based quotes from foreign leaders and generals that speak to how intimidating Americans can be on their home turf. It doesn't hurt that the last few months have been record setting for civilian gun sales, and 40 something percent of those were first time buyers. Run up get done up.
