I think Jeffrey buying SA is a bit like a balding 40-something buying an 80s Ferrari Testarossa. It's not an investment, it's just a combination of nostalgia for something that used to be the best and a desperate attempt to relive your youth. It's going to cost you a fortune, it's based on ancient tech that nobody knows how to fix, you could get something much more modern and better in every way for half the price, and sooner or later you're going to crash it into a ditch.

The biggest money-hole on the forums was convincing tech people to fix the forum when it broke (which was surprisingly often for a paid forum.) Since he can do this himself, it might not be so bad for him - it remains to be seen.

Logan claims between patreon, SA forums purchases, and ads lowtax was bringing in 15-20 grand a month pre tax. Lowtax getting a low six figure deal was a blessing considering it was worth zero with him remaining owner. Jeff should just throw up a new patreon and stop the forum nickel and dimeing.

Moving the user base to a fresh install of xenforo would be the sensible thing to do. He can even adjust registration dates and post counts if goons are that concerned about their posting legacy.
