Considering that a lot of people as they grow older hate things their parents consistently force them to do, I would say that it's probably likely in Desmond's case. When he was little, it was about wearing brightly colored clothing and dancing around at home. Nowadays, he never looks like he's enjoying himself or having fun. I think that as soon as he's able he'll want a normal life and normal clothes. His mom can't do this to him forever.

Now the real issues might come up if he's actually being sexually abused as per speculation, since out of everything he's gone through that will mess him up the most. (Granted, he's probably going to need a therapist later on in life, but that was already a given.)

Desmond probably has a poor understanding of sexuality, due to being forced to portray it long before he was old
enough to understand the nature of it. I would guess he sees it as largely performative or representative of something else, like a job or a chore. Horrifying to think, that he is only thirteen. It's like watching a bizarre alternate universe of Shirley Temple's life.

Since he was six, Desmond has continuously been forced to behave in a manner and encouraged to do things that society traditionally finds adult and sexual in nature while being told by everyone around him of it is Notsexual™. When he grows up and starts realizing all these people, including his own mother, lied to him, and all of itwas, in fact, sexual and completely inappropriate for a child all along, he’s going to suffer a major breakdown.
