Bores is more passionate, but lacks the charisma. James is more charismatic, but lacks the passion. And this made it painfully obvious.
The crossover - if one can legitimately refer to this as one - is another example of Bores overly selling. He has done this before. That said, there is some context to consider:
James has been (mostly) underperforming for the last few years. Having children and a wife, for him, appears to have exhausted a lot of the energy he used to put into Cinemassacre. On top of this, Covid-19 has contributed to complications in general, but with James he still keeps isolated while the Screenwave guys are getting together. This may have been a covenience for James, as he could do something without tremendous commitment.
Since Screenwave came along, James does significantly less work, as these guys handle scripts, editing, even gameplay footage. This is why AVGN has been waning, and why folks are subjected to cringey crowbar songs. Why is this important?
Even without Screenwave or Covid-19, James would still not commit himself to a project. His inner fire died when the AVGN movie flopped, as movies are his real passion. AVGN was supposed to be the springboard, but it has become his crutch. Bores was lucky to even get what James gave, which was a rehash of older lines and gags. James wants the easy money, and considering the ridiculous amounts of money Bores spends, he got it.
