I don't actually think 3GD will go. Some of the older dams higher up on the river might be a problem though. But hey, I was wrong about this whole COVID thing, didn't think that had legs either.
If the CCP keeps blowing up dams and sacrificing towns and villages to prevent the big one from going, maybe. Sort of goes to show you how dire things are. They'll take out smaller (but still massive) pieces of infrastructure in order to maintain the big one. I get it; a few small floods is worse than one giant biblical flood. But it's a terrible situation they've created over there.

Everyone saying God is causing this flood, He promised he would never again wipe out mankind with a flood and He placed the rainbow in the sky as the sign of his promise. "When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh." Of course, with all that pollution, you will probably never see a rainbow in Beijing, and they did try to rewrite the only written record of that promise, so maybe God forgot.
We were being factious. Its a joke. A jape. A laugh.

That's an other problem - we will have no idea until it happens. Much like the Sichuan/Wenchuan earthquake we didn't know how severe it was until days after the fact because China kept on denying it.

The operative phrase being "wipe out mankind". This isn't going to wipe out mankind.

Aren't a bunch of the upstream dams there for the express purpose of holding water/sediment back from 3GD? It seems like if they have issues then the Happening's chances increase sharply.

God said he won't use a flood to wipe out mankind. He didn't say shit about wiping out a large sum of people. All in the fine details dude.

Dont forget the ripoff reverse engineered RBMK chernobyl style graphite reactors downstream.

Thats like 10 fukushimas.

If it goes the world will have problems. Wont be just china.

I would assume the reactor operstors have planned for this situation. Im highly confident they have contingency plans
You are implying that they do.

Wait what?!

There's actually Uranium powered reactors in the way? JFC if nuclear material spills into the goddamn river then everything downstream might as well become a nuclear fucking wasteland if the reactors are exposed. Fuck, now I'm genuinely worried. The Soviets fought tooth and nail to keep the exposed reactor's meltdown from reaching the Dnieper, and that wouldn't be nearly as disastrous as it being fed into the Yangtze, which ends in the Pacific.

Fuck you, China :stress:

Do any of you think the Chinese Government has a nuclear shut it down plan or should we come to terms with losing a ton of marine life right now

I'm pretty sure most of the issues with RBMK reactors were fixed, they still run in Russia, for example. I would assume China did the same, but rate me optimistic if you would like.

I'm not so sure about reactors obtained through industrial espionage getting regular patches. Especially when we're talking China.

Not necessarily, China can just pull the plug and hope they cool off enough to avoid melting down. There's still plenty of time to avert disaster. We might be able to tell if they have by satellite pictures showing widespread blackouts over southern/central China.

But nuclear reactors you don't just flip on and off, and by turning them off the Chinese will buy themselves quite some time of reduced manufacturing capacity which means more supply chain issues.
