Creative works you enjoyed until politics happened - "How politics made me hate Welcome to Nightvale and other things"

since DnD and medieval fantasy are the most popular and basic bitch entry level tabletop RPG's, a lot of these people naturally end up spending all their time playing those because they're basic bitches. Which would be tolerable if they'd keep it to their own groups and didn't keep trying to force everyone else in the hobby to play their way.
Know what's nuts is there's already a game out there that covers all that shit it's called Shadowrun.

But you don't necessarily have to follow anything pozzed in D&D if you don't want to, right? My own friend group does some of our own homebrews. I was under the impression you didn't have to follow specific canon and could adapt your campaign as you see fit (unless you're playjng competitively or some shit)?

Even the Soviets and other organized military forces that employed women out of necessity have generally known better than to deploy them in mixed units with men. That's opening the door to a lot more trouble.

If by "meme" you mean her influence was made up after the fact, that's not true. Plenty of contemporary sources on both sides of the conflict didn't take her lightly. But again, this wasn't because she was running around chopping off the heads of Englishmen. It was because of the effect she had on the French soldiers' morale, and that was because of both her skill as a public speaker (a very religious themed one), and her complete confidence in French victory (which may have been because she was touched in the head). Basically, because this 90 pound girl was so absolutely confident and fearless, the French soldiers were inspired to be too, when they'd previously been at their lowest point. Morale matters, and it mattered even more back then. A lot of times the winner of a conflict was simply the side that chose to keep fighting instead of running. The psychology of war is no less real than the physical side of it, and in that regard figurehead leaders like Joan of Arc matter.

As for being given the choice to go to prison or be burned, that never happened. After being captured by the Burgundians, she was moved between several prisons of both the Burgundians and the English and tried to escape multiple times, before the English put her on trial for heresy. The plan of the trial was always to kill her. She was already in prison, so why would they even bother with an elaborate trial just to ask her if she wanted to be executed or go back to prison?
Is there any contemporary evidence of her taking a role and/or being skilled as a military commander/strategist/anything like that, or just as inspiration via oration and confidence?

Yeah. Fortunately the nature of tabletop roleplaying is such that pozzing the hobby completely is impossible. That doesn't mean they sure ain't trying. RPG.net, a website that was supposed to be a place where anyone could meet up and arrange online gaming groups, banned Trump supporters. The Pathfinder 2.0 intro had a whole section about respecting marginalized people. This means that technically it's a rule in Pathfinder 2.0 that if anyone, including the GM, is making someone "marginalized" uncomfortable, they have to stop. I can only imagine some troon completely hijacking a game from a GM by pointing to that and constantly claiming to be uncomfortable about something.

Which is why I only play with friends and my brother.

Off topic, but why is this bad? I’ve seen a lot of people complain about pure evil races before and I never understand what the problem is.

Tolkien actually was bothered by the implications of it; mostly because it denied free will. Most modern people don't like it because the idea of a group or culture being inferior and evil is problematic.

I noped out of the Transformers fandom a few years back. Primarily because the new cartoon of the time “Robots in Disguise” had dog shit visuals and terrible, unfunny writing.

I was big into the Phase 2 IDW comics, but as soon as the Dark Cybertron event ended suddenly there were a million female, gay, trans characters who all for some reason were more competent than the characters you were initialliy following. They even did an Optimus Prime solo series for 25 issues in which OP spends every issue moping, apologizing, and being told off by females

Out of curiosity I picked up the Unicron miniseries they decided to close off the continuity with. Unicron is barely seen, naturally. The final issue had blurbs from the creative teams from both the Optimus Prime and Lost Light books bleating on about how many gay/trans characters they were able to shove in.

I tried reading one issue of the new series they have. It was mostly Megatron talking about politics with Bumblebee. By that point I had already given up on the franchise so I had no interest in continuing.

I went back last week and rewatched the Bayformers movies and, for all the shit they get, you could not make them today. Just wild anarchic action and dumb shit, piss and dick jokes for 2 and a half hours each.

When something gets too political for me to ignore, I just...stop watching it. Or following it. It's weird but I can only think of one thing where the politics were too eye-rollingly obvious for me to stand by on, and that's (predictably) Muse. Because, really, it was inevitable. Most of the YouTubers I quit watching was also due to me just getting bored with them rather than angry. And then what happened was they woked out anyway to try and stay fresh.

But honestly, by the time 2016 or heck, even 2013 had rolled around, I'd basically taken the indiepill on most different kinds of media. I didn't even quit watching Disneywars/Marvel movies because of politics specifically, I'd just gotten sick of the whole thing and didn't want Disney to have my money.

As a result, I've had numerous times where I ask someone about a show/movie/whatever they had seen recently and they describe it, I can't help but feel like I'm not really missing out.

With that said, there are plenty of lower-profile works being made even now that are wonderful and have a beating heart. With all the stuff I've seen come out under the radar, I still can't get blackpilled on media as a whole. Taking a look at things globally, there's more creative output than ever before, and the slice of the pie that stagnant California-based industries have is slowly shrinking.

(Also, those of you who are worried about D&D need to realize that it's a containment game and you should find a system that filters out D&D players.)

Politics has spoiled pretty much every single outlet in our country except maybe Bass fishing..And I don't fish..

Identity politics has ruined classic literature, classic movies, music, television, sports, etc..

Growing up, I was never that athletic due to being too small for football, basketball, etc.. But I considered myself to be a sports nut anyway. Up until this year, I bought the NFL Sunday Ticket and Redzone. Not anymore, I just can't stomach watching another fucking nigger kneeling during the National Anthem. So I'm out, done. I'm retired from sports.

I don't watch movies or much television outside the local news.. Television is full of queers shoving their collective tongues down our throats. I do from time to time watch classic Westerns when I have 2 or 3 hours to kill.

Luckily for me, I have an endless amount of work to do in my wood shop and my wife is a retired teacher with a treasure trove of classic literature to absorb before I'm ash and bones. Although, Dickens, Vonnegut, Joyce, Orwell, Bradbury, etc.. will all soon be rounded up and burned for being treasonous and poisonous to the mind once the mob runs out of Target stores and pawn shops to loot..

The things I miss aren’t the things that weren’t ruined by politics, I miss the things that were once normal. Like recently I fell down a rabbit hole and I started watching really old episodes of the original SC TV with John candy and Joe Flaherty and Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara etc. I never realized how damn funny those shows were until comparing them to the complete shit that people are putting out now. Every couple of seconds I was cracking up watching this stuff and I don’t think I’ve laughed that much in a long time. And everything I was laughing it would definitely have been something people would have issues with now. I really miss comedy. You can’t make good comedy now when everyone is offended by virtually everything. I really think comedy is dead. I hope it comes back because I really love satire and parody. That god awful Lilly Singh show is a perfect example of what things have devolved to. Screaming about being a bisexual woman of color And white people suck for an entire show week after week and then calling people who think you are not funny racist. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Problem with Discover was its hamfisted political messaging is the same as all the other shit being pounded into our skulls, it's not well done, and there's nothing thought-provoking about it.
I refuse to watch "STD" (talk about unfortunate acronyms) but the whole cast of characters seemed to be designed by woketards to be woke. Voyager and Enterprise are pretty weak shows as-is but aren't conceptually bad. (Plus, hearing Voyager's theme song, besides being great, reminds me of those innocent, carefree days of the late 1990s with my family...(:_()

The sad thing it started off so well, Chromedome and Rewind were a really great couple and felt organic. Re-envisioning Megatron as a champion of the proleteriat corrupted into a Stalinist tyrant was brilliant. I'm guessing getting love bombed for it nudged them in the wrong direction. President Starscream seems like a missed opertunity to provide a more nuanced critique of Trump and on society to be honest, they could have done a lot of interesting stuff with that.

Fun little video which touches on my thoughts on this

Comic books.

Up until 2016-ish, I regularly consumed every non-sjw comic out there because it wasn't infested with bullshit. Hell, I read a ton of image comics and whatnot.

Then the weird turn to SJW shit happened and uhhhh. I'm glad that it's mostly shoved into Carol Danvers bullshit (They ruined her and she was never that interesting to begin with). Every spinoff young adult legacy hero seems to be kinda mediocre in the case of Marvel. Miles/Vivian were cool, Kid Cyclops/Amadeus Cho were standard tropes of varying sorts, and there's no need to talk about the new Falcon because he's not given any chance to develop. Ironheart is a garbage character, Ms. Marvel is mishandled and they seem intent to make her be the leader of this young generation when it should obviously be Miles.

And all the chimping out over Iceman being retcon-brainwashed into being gay was hilarious because in the end, noone cared about Iceman unless you were a longtime reader who remembered that he had a longtime semi-functional relationship with some Japanese girlfriend. Dude's usually been sidelined in modern X-Men since the aftermath of House of M. (Well there was the apocalypse seed thing)

Do not get me started on how they butchered Kitty Pryde.

I also dislike how anime dubs insert identity politics or other shit into the dubs because it's offputting as fuck.

To me it's shows with mix race main cast and to lesser degree mix gender main cast. To be clear I don't hate see different races or men and women working together, I just learned that so many creators play favorites. Minorities have be the best, the strongest and the rightest, no matter what. The shows have different standards for them and rarely is this acknowledged within the show. They get act out without being called out, are seen as more moral, are seen as more desireable and so fort. This has gitten show annoying that I get uncomfortable feelings about races and genders before even watching the show that I'm unwilling to try. I know that there good shows out there that don't treat blacks/women/gays as holy, I have seen them but I have also been burned many times. I want to go back when I didn't care about race or gender. Sure I noticed and I even had my preferences but they were mild and in no way prevented me getting into anything. I actually quite liked it as a face blind person I had serious issues keeping up who's who in a live action if the cast wasn't diverse looking enough.
I like minority characters in older shows before they were forced to be Mary Sues and Gary Stus. Dr. Foreman from House was just as shitty as Dr. House in his own way. He was a self righteous hypocrite who took every opportunity to backstab his colleagues. This made his character interesting and realistic. A brilliant black doctor who's also a narcissistic prick with a criminal past would not be written onto a show today.

oh god yeah Foreman was legitimately interesting.

Shame the last season of the show was utterly cucked.

I was really into late 80s-mid 90s Saturday Night Live, right up until Will Ferrell got too big for his britches. When they stopped satirizing out of love (who wouldn't want to party with their version of George Bush or be at Janet Reno's dance party?) and went straight up propoganda.

Replacing Cecily Strong with pussy ass Michael Che put an end to my even occasional viewings.

Comic books have been under siege for years, New 52 already was going down the wrong path fairly early on, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl was in 2014 and was basically Tumblr garbage...and even in 2016, MCU wasn't infected with SJW shit like the comic books were getting.
