I don't think it's gonna be that way. They'll talk with Trump's camp and list their demands, knowing he won't agree to any of it. Then they'll publicly say something like "Trump is too scared to face Biden" or some shit. And then Trump will have a rally the night the debates were supposed to happen and tell what really happened. Or just tweet about it after the meeting is over.

I think for Biden or any other candidate it's hard to prep against a guy like Trump, he could just go off on something you're not really prepared to defend yourself against. With Bernie it was insanely easy to prep for him, he's a one trick pony that always talks about the same handful of issues and ideas, he's not gonna go off into left field and start off on tangents or say off the cuff things that Biden would have to respond to, I think Trump could trip him up if given the opportunity.

In all seriousness, I have no idea who the Dems could have realistically run. Bernie seems like the obvious choice, but actual Democratic voters showed twice in the past 4 years that Bernie was just too extreme. You're forgetting how fast dementia can progress. That said, even if Biden is somewhat lucid, I've said this before and I'll say it again, Trump doesn't consider himself to be Biden's friend.

Rhetorically speaking, Trump will not be either pulling his punches or lobbing softballs, he's going to go after Biden like he went after Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton, and Biden is not going to be capable of effectively responding. All this silly crap about polls and for example, "Biden number bigger than teh Trump number!!!!1111!!!" specifically, will not prevent the rhetorical asskicking Biden is going to be receiving soon.
