Has she ever talked about why she won't get bariatric surgery? I don't understand, because she wouldn't have to pay much at all for it since she's in canada. Although knowing her she'd fuck it up and still end up binging. The problem is in her head, more than anything else, and there's no surgery for that.
Others have mentioned that Chantal cannot stick to any sort of medical plan, and that segues nearly into a medical record chock-full of deliberate medical non-compliance. She’s a disaster and a cursory look at her medical history would give WLS surgeons pause. Some examples:
Chantal’s trip to the ER (“psych emerge” as she called it) was ostensibly because she made herself so sick eating cheese that she both needed medical help and was terrified she was eating herself to death. But the more jaded among us think it was a calculate attempt to get higher placement on lists for weight loss clinics where she could receive dietary advice, medical help in the form of psychiatric medications and quick access to therapy, otherwise she would have waited for a very long time. After skipping the queue, she promptly quit and abandoned all the help offered to her.
She has at least one weight loss specialist who asked her incredulously why she just couldn’t try what he asked rather than going on yet another grape fast recommenced by a ghost.
She failed to lose weight before extremely intrusive abdominal surgery for her hysterectomy and may actually have gained weight.
She engaged in such appalling after-care that, after her hysterectomy, twice hot liquid gushed out and she had to go to a wound care clinic every other day to get the incision cleaned and packed. She admitted that after her surgery she did not shower or wash her hair for two months or so, blaming her disgusting lack of hygiene on needing to keep the incision dry, as if there were not a number of ways she could have kept dry a part of her body that never sees the light of day.
She routinely begins psychopharmacology regimens and and yanks herself off the meds the moment she reads something online about drugs r bad mmmkay.
Even if Canada decided tomorrow to fund thousands of bariatric surgeries and Chantal decided she wanted to try, no doctor would approve her. She wouldn’t even make the list to see if she could follow a weight loss protocol prior to surgery. Her medical charts show that the moment she was released from the hospital she’d go strip down in a public toilet, roll all over the floor and stop only when the Pizza Pizza delivery man showed up, refusing to do the simplest things to recover because she can’t help but rebel against all knowledge offered her by someone smarter and far better educated.
