Seattle has decided to be stupid by banning crowd control devices, starting this weekend. The mayor gave a stupid speech.

The police chief showed up and said basically the cops won't be able to arrest people, and she warned the city council that there will be "consequences" for their ability to fight crime due to it. Then she gave the usual "we are part of a community and we don't hate peaceful protests".

"This weekend, I'll be taking the pepper spray off my belt, and putting a riot stick on there, because that's what we're left with." Don't tease me, woman, you better be swinging that riot baton with great enthusiasm this weekend.

Fire chief is now there basically asking people to stop setting fires. He points out there's a lot of fatal fires in the last few weeks, because the businesses the """protesters""" light on fire sometimes have residential units above them. 3 fatalities in the last week.

"If you are a business and you have a large dumpster, and you have a place you can lock it up, do it!" He then explains how to lock the wheels on the bottom of dumpsters.

And after all that, the first press question is "how many federal agents are in the area and where are they". Fucking 5th columnists.

Mayor is now whining: "it's unprecedented for federal agents to swarm to a city without consultation with local law enforcement, and it's never done that it happens over the objection of the city government". Well gee Karen, maybe if you did your fucking job, you wouldn't be overruled like the bitch you are.

Good Guy Omari (streamer whose studio was in the middle of CHAZ) now saying he marched in the protests, but he sees a bunch of people there specifically for "direct action" and asks what the mayor is doing to address them. Mayor says there's a distinction between the "very lawful and very righteous protest against ICE and their conduct" and the people who "are coming up from Portland" to cause trouble. Everyone is being very careful to avoid saying the word "Antifa".

Stream still going here.

Edit: "why is there a wall built around the precinct, who built it and how much did it cost?" SEATTLE BUILT A BIG BEAUTIFUL WALL, OH MY SIDES :story:

Police chief saying they wanted fencing, not a wall, but there was no fencing immediately available. I wonder why? 🤔

Edit 2: Mayor bitching that the Federal Protective Service (the ones who guard federal property) people didn't tell her they had so many agents on standby in Seattle. Says she wasn't lied to, but "there were some semantics" about what was going on. Apparently FPS is called in when local resources aren't enough, and Seattle resources were stretched thin... because their agents had previously been sent to Portland to deal with problems there.

So the mayor who says Seattle won't have feds like Portland is pissed that feds had to surge to Seattle because of Portland. I give up, there is zero self-awareness here.

If anything, the Feds should be stationed outside the city, refusing all entry and exit. Let them wallow in their garbage and nihilism, it's what they want. Seattle is District 9 now.

How soon until the federal courthouse becomes like our embassies in Saigon, Tehran, or Benghazi?

"Well we can't use pepper spray, tasers, tear gas, rubber bullets, batons, our own body weight, or our fists to stop violence and destruction."

"Well geez, I guess if these fishing nets don't work out, we are just going to start blasting"
Some people NEED to have their head bashed in.

Im fully erect at the thought they'll have to defend themselves from rioters with direct physical force. Let Seattle burn.

Hope they have cameras with multiple angles to show lethal force is justified. We all know how the Lugenpresse will frame it.
Play this over it if it gets as good as it sounds.

Yes, Mike Baker (NYT), it is utterly dystopian that the police would use video evidence in the pursuit of investigating crimes. This is truly a nightmarish world that we live in. How awful.
The only people that would be troubled by this would be the people being caught on film committing crimes.

Bonus points if some footage seized was from people filming themselves and posting it on social media.

hahah oh wow, i cant wait for this to be a shitshow. Banning crowd disperse devices? are you fucking serious lmao. This is why you dont put blacks or women in government positions. Seattle's police is literally fucked enough and they're going to ban tools that will save their lives against THOUSANDS of rioters? Jesus fucking christ. America is fucked.

Where have you gone, Richard Daley? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
In April, Daley was castigated by many for his sharp rhetoric in the aftermath of rioting that took place after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination. Displeased with what he saw as an over-cautious police response to the rioting, Daley chastised police superintendent James B. Conlisk and subsequently related that conversation at a City Hall press conference as follows:[24]
I said to him very emphatically and very definitely that an order be issued by him immediately to shoot to kill any arsonist or anyone with a Molotov cocktail in his hand, because they're potential murderers, and to shoot to maim or cripple anyone looting.
