To bring up Brianna Wu in example, their husband, Frank Wu, has expressed an oddly specific yet telling fetish which Penny may share. Frank has expressed that he was aroused by Brianna being completely reliant on him in every single regard, from financially, to emotionally, to socially. The pleasure he experienced from that idea alone went beyond any sexual or physical fascination he had with Brianna's transition. Although Penny is already a few degrees more scrambled in the head compared to Frank, I see a near-identical trend in regard to Penny. Penny has not only isolated Kevin and others, encouraging them to abandon their families entirely and limit their personal interactions to each other, but Kevin seems to be convinced that has family has completely abandoned him and that Penny is his only safety net. Kevin's a selfish imbecile, but the way he actively antagonizes his mother goes a step farther that makes me convinced that an external force goads him into doing so. Also note how for both times when Kevin felt his life was "threatened" by Kiwifarms, he asked people to relay the information to Penny, Kevin apparently lacking all agency.
If I remember correctly, Penny has already abandoned multiple children to pursue this asinine sex cult fantasy, so it's already known that he's a malicious and selfish person by nature. But Kevin's behavior strongly suggests that Penny is also manipulative and controlling. It just so happens Kevin is too much of a manchild to protest it, and most likely nobody else on the "Tenacious Unicorn Ranch" possess enough gray matter to wrap their heads around what's happening to them. I'd be angry if I didn't already know the other inductees are too stupid to know any better, so rather I'm just disgusted.
