I'm no concern troll etc but i'm not 100% immoral either. Hitting her hard with the truth of the matter NOW instead of waiting until much later would just make it more painful. Like a bandaid. She was young and stupid. Thought the locked account would keep people out and kept talking shit. It didn't protect her. It was a quick and painless execution and this is possibly the best result we could hope for if we are thinking in terms of what is best for her sanity. Hopefully this will keep her from continuously reading Ethan's thread. Or maybe it will just make that obsession stronger. We'll just have to wait to find out.

Ralph himself knows what it's like to have zero impulse control when it comes to avoiding his own thread. If he was actually looking out for her and not just himself then he would have thought twice before dragging a mentally troubled girl half his age into a situation that she would naturally struggle with even more than he would.
Nobody would expect a teen girl to be stoic enough to stay away from everything that's said about her and her boyfriend online. Ralph can't feign ignorance about how these threads work and how they've always worked since he was more "accepting" of them. He especially can't do it because there's audio proof that he's even been egging her on. Whatever mental distress ends up happening is all on him.
