The fencing was erected Wednesday to protect the courthouse in downtown Portland, according to Willamette Week. But it has since become a focus of protesters' attention after nearly two months of demonstrations, which at times have devolved into riots.

Since its installment, demonstrators have attempted to tear it down, throwing fireworks over the perimeter. In at least one instance, they lit a large fire between the barrier and the courthouse, according to social media and reports.

I do recall seeing video that in some city (not sure which one) ALLEGED antifa perpitrators were being handcuffed and put into unmarked vans and driven off by individuals who were not dressed as law enforcement. This was about the time that Trump declared Antifa a 'terrorist organization' and there was , if I recall correctly, pages of names of people who were being rounded up and detained over their ties to Antifa. Yes i know that twitter video in the brief talks about one, i'm going off that there are others videos out there as well.

This section has some merit overall but perhaps not in this case.

I don't think it's China, they might have some hand in it, but the standing down of the Democratic Mayors and the DA's setting bail to zero for people attacking police, businesses and Federal property, the Mayor of Portland imbedding himself with the rioters, and the Democratic Party bending the knee to BLM, shows it's coming from somewhere else.

Edit: They want to give the appearance of security. They have a door framed around glass. Unless its a dual key deadbolt an intruder can just break the class and turn the knob.

The question has to be why the Feds are stepping in now after a lull in widespread violence since CHAZ was dismantled- I wonder if these arrests are preemptive?

I believe that evidence from earlier riots has been corroborated, and that they're expecting more unrest closer to the election. As the local AGs and city councils can't be trusted as they're letting them off the streets, the Feds have to step with ironclad Federal charges to keep key figures off the streets.

Alternatively or simultaneously, it could be that it takes that long to coordinate and activate the Federal Units post-Washington DC (which was the first time we saw them). And this could also be in light of increased Antifa activity targeting federal buildings (while earlier riots were more aimless).

Edit 1:There is more tear gas being shot here in this 30min clip than all of Minneapolis and Atlanta combined during all the days of riots.
