Lol, in DC they have a "violence interrupter" program where locals try to engage with community to stop gang violence.

On the Fourth of July one of them held a cook out and invited opposing gang members hoping they would smooth over their differences.

Instead of enjoying hot dogs and talking, they started shooting, and the 11 year old son of the interrupter was caught in the crossfire and killed.
