The Official Tomb Raider Grieving Thread - Including the sad, pathetic 2010s trilogy.

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

Do we really need a new reboot?

  • Yeah, I think it's about that time

  • No, the franchise is dead.

  • NO, A FOLLOWUP WHERE LARA PREACHES BOUT SLAY QUEEN DEFEATING EVIL ORANGE MAN

  • who cares, square enix killed another franchise

Reminder Crystal denied Lara being a lesbian in the reboot and Rhianna started spreading this bs after she became aware of the shippers.
Now this guy suddenly replying to a last year tweet about a comic from 2 years ago to get some woke points.
See, boobs are bad and sexist but gaybaiting is totally woke and not sexualizing at all.

Edit: Lara/Sam is a boring garbage. Lara/Amanda? Now that's 👌👌👌

They didn't forget about Sam, they wrote her out in the comics. Being possessed by Himiko's spirit made her go crazy and she ended up getting institutionalized or some shit.

Anyway, they couldn't keep Sam around because Lara needs a companion I guess and she's not special if she's not the only woman doing cool shit.
Well doesn’t that make the entirety of the first reboot game kinda pointless.

I always thought they kept Jonah around because they had a strictly platonic friendship so avoids any awkward relationship beats. But Sam was definitely done a dirty after being a big part of the first game.

It's like what YaBoi Zack said, if there are 2 women in the same panel in a [current year] comic: they're lesbians.
Of course, Gail Simone is in the neighborhood when there's a made-up controversy...

So heavy drug use makes you gay.

the supposed "gay" scene:

tldr; Lara remembers all the people she killed while angsting how she's a terrible friend and always leaves people behind. Sam is only in her dream because Lara still feels guilty about failing to protect her. Seriously, fuck the dude who suggested they should make out in this scene, this is honestly gross!

Also if Lara is "so gay" then why the fuck she gives Jonah bedroom eyes right at the end of this comic??

By the shippers own logic Jonah/Lara is canon, lolz

“Palaptine’s behind it all!”

Stuff like plants and clutter get re-used constantly. There's really nothing new about that. Guns are also generic enough to be re-used.

Animations are going to be entirely dependent, for NPCs it's not a big deal. But you kind of want to give extra attention to the hero character or prominent enemies.

Funny how they gave Black Widow dual pistols and classic style Lara's acrobatics... Meanwhile reboot Lara swings like a potato sack.
Just as funny how TR went from one of Playstation's greatest hits to "Uncharted for Xbox"

Funny how it's Lara Is Gay, rather than Lara Is Bisexual. It was mentioned in the first reboot Lara had absolutely no issue picking up guys when she got her head out the books, lol

Playing through Shadow at the moment. Not really sure what to feel about it - feels interesting and I enjoy slowly amassing treasure, but I have absolutely no investment in the storyline or world.

Because remember kids: If you have a female character that shows any capacity to stand up for themselves and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, they must be a lesbian!

Fuck, I remember not too long ago it was considered offensive that if a person deemed a person's sexuality by their outwards interests and profession. Nowadays it's basically mandatory to rely on stereotypes so long as the result can be written to appease creepy fan-fiction writers.

Are you doing the trophies/achievements for Shadow? They have you visit a ton of out of the way areas that the main campaign doesn't cover. Like 1/3rd of the rainforest just exists for you to find upgrades and rare game. There's only one place that spawns the albino capybaras and it's entirely tied to optional content. So you'll miss huge swaths of stuff by just doing the bare minimum. There's many well hidden entrances and objects in shadow so they really spent their time working on the level design. None of the collectibles or upgrades are annoying to get either.

I honestly found the world in shadow the most interesting because it had a ton of places to explore. Once you get to the mission, you have like 5-6 layers to explore to get everything there.

Oh no, I'm definitely being a completionist about it - I just meant that as much as I'm enjoying myself hoovering up all these hidden bits, and falling into another surprisingly well preserved tomb of murder death, the story has left me really cold. I don't really care about these natives, or Trinity. The only narratively engaging moment I had was Lara's childhood.

Also, bad guys calling their slaves "snowflakes". Fucking lmao.

You're not up to the part where all that shit takes a black seat to Temple of Doom Scenarios. All that shit is just pre-text for the finale.

Of the new rebooted games I've only played the first and really enjoyed it, this thread got me interested in playing the other two.

I started searching around and holy shit, they really did make Lara ugly. I knew people had a said this, but I had no idea it was this bad.

And while we're on the subject, what the hell happened to her gun?

The first reboot clearly established her handguns are 1911s, specifically Remington R1s.

But this is some kind of bastardized 1911 frame with Beretta 92 slide assembly.
