When cops are allowed to form a line and march people out of city centers, they stop. When the cops are hamstrung and forced to stay in one place, they go on forever.

Its almost like active policing actually works.

Supposedly, when the Revolutionary War broke out, civilians gathered at the edges of battlefields to watch the battle. The idea that this was war, and people were about to die, didn't hit them.

Until the gunfire and cannons started splattering their husbands and sons across the field. And stray bullets and cannonfire hit them, too.

American Civil War, actually. The battle of First Manassas specifically. Occurring a mere 30 miles from Washington DC, 1st Manassas was supposed to be a great show. Northern State Militias were dispatched to regain control of the Federal Garrison of Harpers Ferry and relieve the breakaway Virginia counties that affirmed loyalty to the Federal Government

Nobody really understood what was about to happen. The Federal Troops were advancing up the road towards the Thoroughfare Gap and the Bull Run mountains. They did not intend to start a war. Just secure federal property at Harpers Ferry. However, Virginia has seceded a few weeks prior and the Federal Garrison at Harpers Ferry retreated north without a fight, allowing the Virginia Militia under General Jackson and Beauregard to move to counter the federal forces short of the Bull Run mountains.

The Virginia militia opened fire first, and a full on battle resulted. Congressmen and their families had come along with the federal army as it was a novelty. Nobody actually had believed at this point there would be a war but in the end it came to violence because neither side would back down.

4 years later 10% of the American population and 90% of the male population born in the 1840s south would be dead. A price clearly insignificant to atone for slavery. Apparently to our woke overlords MORE should have died. preferably all.

I thought Army of the Potomac was the Union Army. Union army named their armies after rivers.

The Union had an Army of The Potomac as a corps under the command of the Union Army of Northeastern Virginia. The Confederate Army of The Potomac would later go on to absorb the Army of the Shenadoah but keep the name.

Probably the best thing to do in this situation. There's too many of them now to safely clear out and they're just going to get bombarded by fireworks and lasers standing outside.

It's obvious. They want to bait Trump and the right into showing up with force. Thankfully someone in the White House is actually doing their job in advising Trump to just stay back and laugh as Democrats try to pacify the golem they've created and nurtured since the 60s. Democrats don't want to be the ones responsible for calling the police on these people, even though we've seen that these riots could be contained within minutes if there was any will to do so.
