This is seriously weird brinkmanship, for the most part, neither side seems willing to go to the next step. Just comfortable in using fireworks, tannoys, paintball pepper balls and some chanting.

Yeah, the torch of puritanism, thought-terminating, lockstep adherence to orthodoxy, etc. has long since been passed from the right to the left, so any angsty/rebellious music that's not too wrapped up in the political minutia of its era continues to feel relevant in a new way.
And there's some stuff that's just plain still relevant without any recontextualization. As much as revisionists try to act like punk was some exclusively left wing thing, there were punk bands telling off the totalitarian left even back in the 80s.
