His egotism is bigger than that. I agree with what other people have said that he doesn't want to be a king or dictator or whatever, because that involves having to get down in the mud and sweat and bleed. Too high stakes, too much chance for failure. He wants to be a famous philosopher. Someone like Plato or Aristotle who can just sit on his ass and talk and shape the world indirectly. Except all his philosophy is just copy pasted bits and pieces from actual philosophers. He has no original ideas and the ones he co-opts he makes dumber and less consistent.

I feel like it's even more simple than that. He doesn't care so much about the position as much as he cares about what he gets with it. At the end of the day, he wants nothing more than to be a recognized and respected figure. He wants everyone to view him as brilliant and a freedom fighter against the establishment.

I'm going to cautiously predict a return of his lolcow behavior. The man's had a massive ego for years, going back even when people took him seriously. Combine that with the moderate growth of Akkad Daily, and you have a recipe for more nonsense from Carl in the future. Maybe its wishful thinking because I like seeing him make a fool of himself, but I'm betting its only a matter of time before he sets Bnnerlord aside and goes full tilt into politics IRL again.

Socio-political pressure is honestly way more effective than paying customers complaining about something. It's why so many subcultures and industries are going through or have gone through their own version of the -gate thing. "SJWs" are a very loud minority, consumers are a very large but mostly complacent majority and within that group are the Carl-types who are even smaller than the "SJWs" but tend to have terrible PR and get even less done.
