Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Oh, my mistake, I didn't know we passed a law making it illegal for the virus to infect politicians.

The Wu Flu is smart, it won't infect protestors, rioters, politicians, essential workers in Walmart or Krogers, just people who question the prevailing narrative.

It's what The Science says and you have accepted The Science as your Lord and Saviour, haven't you?

You can't go to your Grandma's funeral (after Cuomo killed her by putting infected patients with her in her nursing home)

But the elites sure as fuck can go to a photo op with one of their own.

Because even during the peak of the pandemic in April, those things went almost completely unused.

Then they need to STFU about all these cases, another lockdown, etc. Fearmongering needs to stop. "They" murder their credibility when they don't provide all the info. People are veterans at seeing through bullshit. "They" simply don't get it - the next time something major happens, and they want our support, maybe it doesn't happen as they want, or maybe doesn't happen at all. "They" have cried "WOLF!" far too many times now on this thing.

Has ANYONE heard ANYTHING about contingency/emergency hospitals ANYWHERE being put back into operation or prepared for operation? Anything about the two hospital ships being readied for deployment? Still nada here at the Kremlin. Should you hear something, please post it here. Thanks much!

Unless your grandma was black and killed by the cops or an important political figure no one gives a fuck about her. Unless you’re the governor, then you do whatever the fuck you want like that fat fuck Pritzker in Illinois. Unrelated note: does anyone seriously think someone would let a guy like Pritzker have sex with them if there wasn’t some financial incentive for it? What a nasty guy.

So we might be seeing an end to the WuFlu hoax, iiiiiif the GOP wants to take a stand and kill their party for the next 10 years over it.

Basically, the GOP is trying to dial back the $600 a week bonus checks for people on UI. And the DNC wants to make it permanent.

GOP considering dropping the $600 Unemployment benefit to 70% wage replacement. For states that can't afford it, they'll be given $200 a week instead.

The DNC and DSA, of course, are trying to backdoor UBI via the WuFlu, so obviously they're going to argue against this and promise more.

How the fuck can you be taking home nearly $3k in addition to whatever your UI already gives and still be in danger of missing out on rent?

If you live in certain high-cost areas, there can be problems. Rents can be very high. Gas, food, etc, also expensive. Other bills, may have a family, spouse may not work. CA's max is $450/week - depends on earnings in the base period. Minimum $40/week. Some states pay more, some less. $600 + 450 = $1050, or $4200/month. But if your rent for a 2-bedroom place is $2400/month, plus utilities, doesn't leave much for everything else.

Added: But some of these other places, I'm with you. Have no idea why anyone in a lower-cost area would be in danger of eviction getting this enhanced UI. Often is more than worker was earning. MS? Please. AL? Again, please. WV? Please. You catch my drift...

Added some more: My guess - the final amount will be more than $200/week, but less than $600/week. See a little room for maneuver, but not much.

The 70% wage replacement plus state unemployment in my case would be a little bit less than what I was getting with the extra $600. Still a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. 😎

I don't know what the other unemployed tech millennials were doing with their funployment bux, but I was using mine to pay off debt faster, game the July 15th tax date with increased IRA contributions, paying my rent like a normal person and while learning to cut costs.

:stress:
I just want to go to work and go the gym again. Am I really asking for that much?

I feel you man. I know my job search is getting better and I'm at least getting 1-2 initial recruiter/HR interviews a week in my field.

If Big Brother doesn't foot the bill, they can't shut down the states again without at least one governor getting drug out of the statehouse by an angry mob.

So here we go.

Rules for thee.

I'm quite frankly sick of the media bringing up case numbers. I'm waiting for the day when mass lawsuits against mayors go up because of this and the riots

The Texas Medical Center in Houston briefly dipped its toes into surge capacity a week or two back. I have also heard that border counties in Texas(Hidalgo, mainly) are getting additional personnel sent in by the fed due to being swamped by spillover from Mexico. Smaller local hospitals in some cities were having to transfer patients to bigger ones for a while as well. That's the extent of hospitals I've heard of getting overwhelmed. Seems like the only real issue is having enough people manning the hospitals, and keeping them from getting too overworked.

my math says that you have plenty of money left to eat...

how can a state like CA work if everything is so damn expensive?

Most expensive part is coastal CA from just north of San Francisco down to the border. Go inland a ways, housing is less expensive. Gas has gone up about sixty cents a gallon in the last couple of months.

To answer your question better, it's getting harder and harder for the state to work. Environmentalists have largely stopped any new reservoir construction, so the runoff from wet years can't be saved. Road system, especially in coastal CA, is way overloaded. Maintenance and new construction simply insufficient. Billions wasted on a high-speed rail system which I doubt will ever be completed. Mos public school systems not good - too much money spent on illegals. Taxes, fees, laws, other bullshit keep growing. CA is becoming a state divided between the rich and the poor. Middle class shrinking quickly. Many middle-class people leaving the state, such as my son and his family. They are moving to Texas this week. Housing too expensive in their area now. Job opportunities in many areas very limited. If I could leave, I'd go back to Texas, as well. Can't leave right now.

What's astounding to me is the expensive coastal states like California or Massachusetts are relatively low on this but states with low cost of living like Mississippi or West Virginia are some of the highest. What metric is this even based on? I'm not going to deny there's endless amounts of stupid people in both states (and every other state, of every race) who'd spend their Trumpbux on opioids, booze, and general nigger rich garbage but I don't see how anyone can't make rent in a state like that. Your average person in Mississippi or WV is making far more on Trumpbux than they were working.
