I'm not surprised. Multiple churches have reported vandalism since the George Floyd riots that there's even a map that shows what statues, churches, etc. have been subjected to arson and vandalism.

What. Isn't this "social cohesion" brought about, in part, through oppression of minority groups and political dissidents? That's not a good thing. The Chinese government literally has concentration camps for certain ethnic minority groups (Uyghyrs, for example).

True, but even that was a far cry from a perfectly centrally planned society like these people seem to think is possible. So while it was not a free market, the competition between those design bureaus could be very cutthroat. Furthermore, when ideas and projects in the USSR were approved and funded for top-down ideological/political reasons, that's when you saw extremely high levels of systemic inefficiency (not to mention human suffering).

At least the hippies of the 60s and 70s had their communes in the middle of nowhere. They truly did try to live by socialist ideals, even if they failed in the end. The anti-capitalists of today won’t even bother trying to learn survival skills of their own in order to create their utopia because they like the trappings of capitalism too much.

That being said, even the hippies were stooges for the establishment, just not the one in power at the time. A lot of hippie organizing and movement goals came straight from the CIA in Laurel Canyon. They did a lot to undermine the conservative values of the country.
