Here's the list of demands this group called BLAST has made:
- Divest from police and prisons and reinvest in community-based programs.
- “Adopt and align” with the federal Justice in Policing Act of 2020 and Washington state Initiative 940.
- Remove school resource officers from public schools.
- Fire the officers involved in the 2015 shooting of Andre Thompson and Bryson Chaplin, and the response to the death of Yvonne McDonald, as well as officer Kellie Hull, who was accused of making a threatening remark during a protest arrest; resignation of coroner and city prosecutor involved in McDonald case and release records to Talauna Reed, McDonald’s niece.
- Enact a “good cause” eviction and “non-possessory” bill.
- Investigate links between armed right-wing militias and OPD; remove City Manager Jay Burney for not holding OPD “accountable for conflicts of interest” with militias.
- Replace the city’s proposed Human Rights Commission with a “Reconciliation and Oversight” board headed by marginalized people.

Those lists of demands for cities make me think of a writing exercise we did back in 2nd grade or so where we were asked what we would change about school if we could, and kids would write things like "cancel math and add extra recess, have pizza for lunch every day."

For who? Which groups? Asians and Jews have noticed they've been quietly left out of all these shiny benefits, with obvious efforts to take their work away. And I'll bet it'll be 'racist' to ask for transparency to make sure the funds aren't misused, then racist again for pointing it out when it happens.
While I'd be sympathetic to say a single mother who lost her jobs due to it being burned down by rioters, I think not wanting to pay for a deadbeat to stay for free is a good cause. If they don't want to pay rent, they're not going to want to pay for their utilities either.
What a nice way to say that any citizens who defend themselves and fight against the new tyranny will be drawn and quartered for witchcraft.
