People will post their pitch for a cartoon in the tag, and while some of them are actually pretty interesting, most of them are just "DUDE DIVERSE CAST LMAO"

I can assure you that all of these are crazy Steven Universe fans, and they think that highlighting the sexuality / pronouns of their characters will be the next great cartoon, rebecca sugar was smart and didn't do that when presenting her idea I think they should learn that.

I honestly can't decide if some of these are supposed to be for kids or for adults because 80% of these have adult-ish themes with very cartoon-y artstyle.

It's the "adults watching cartoons" phenomenon. Despite My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic getting a lot of the blame, this actually goes all the way back to the 90s when things like Cartoon Network's "Cartoon Cartoon" made shows that appealed to kids but were meant to be entertaining to adults as well (so parents didn't go on a murderous rampage after watching Daniel Tiger for the 1000th time in a row). The creator of Powerpuff Girls even came out and said he wanted it to be watchable by stoners.
As those kids grew up, however, they kept thinking of themselves as the target audience because they were the target audience for the cartoons they grew up with. The adult fandoms for shit like the new She-Ra certainly doesn't help either.

Unfortunately the venn diagram of "people who care about animation as an artform/storytelling medium" and "SJWs" is virtually a circle.

I saw a post going around tumblr about this kind of thing, that one of the reasons they like cartoons so much is that they don’t have to worry about unexpected violence or sex scenes, which makes sense. Maybe I just don’t know how to look for them, but there should be more middle of the road shows that don’t dumb things down but aren’t dependent on shock value or sex appeal. I think that was a huge appeal of Gravity Falls, it was insanely popular on tumblr.

The one with the ping pong lesbians actually works at cartoon network i think and i remember seeing a short animation made about that same dumb idea. It was basically a calarts/ugly tumblr ripoff of ping pong the animation, like, i think they actually ripped off actual scenes of that anime.

Maybe I'm setting the bar low because of the influx of bad jojo art, but this is a nice piece of Hermes that doesn't black wash her. Yeah she's darker than her canon colors but she looks more Latina than black which is how so many western JJBA artists draw her despite her being Mexican not black.
