They ARE the back alley hackjobs. Especially Bowers. He and his fellow butcher buddy Dr. Ting decided to do experimental SRS on a 17 year old boy. This surgery was the first of its kind and they royally fucked up. Their victim needed 3 more surgeries and Bowers told him he probably needs another one. The horrible outcomes of this child genital multilation can be seen in the Jazz Jennings thread.
There are no rules for trans surgeries. It's literally the wild west. Every surgeon does what they want. One Surgeon having more satisfied customers than another one doesn't make her or him less of a back alley butcher.
