Even 15 years ago when I got my degree psychology was widely regarded as a nonspecific and highly variable science, to the point that misdiagnosing shit was a lot more common than mental health professionals liked. I'm sure that even with today's advances it'd still be described similarly, simply because we don't know a lot about the human brain and how it works. The point, though, is that a shitbag will be a shitbag whether or not they have an underlying psychiatric condition. And I agree with you, personality types only show that someone is more likely to develop and manifest certain traits, it doesn't explain everything they do.
