Our culture has turned into one that values feels over reals. Just like the Oppression Olympics, the Wu Flu fearmongering allows one to feel that sense of smug self-righteousness you get when you have the mob's support in belittling anyone who goes against the status quo of the day. As long as you're on top of the stack, you're free to look down on anyone below you, mock and scorn them, all with the backing of the mob.
News flash to that dumbfuck nurse: people are still dying of
fucking everything. Here's the CDC list of
the top causes of death in the US in 2017. Even assuming that the number of recorded Wu Flu deaths are accurate (and with all the fuckery going on there, that's a huge assumption), there's still more deaths to accidental injuries. Heart disease and cancer each cause four times the number of deaths. Over 50,000 people died of the flu in 2017, but we don't shut down the country every flu season because of it.
And that's without getting into the other health ramifications of the lockdowns and quarantines that this idiot is willfully ignoring. As you pointed out, people aren't going to the hospital or the doctor out of fear of catching a disease that is almost guaranteed not to kill them. In the process, many people are delaying treatments that could be lifesaving. The extended periods of isolation are increasing rates of depression and suicide, so I'm not gonna be surprised if there's a big uptick in this year's numbers. And then there's all the issues with the economy, with people losing their jobs and businesses, further driving despair and self-destructive behaviors. If the virus were actually serious enough to warrant such strict measures, that would be one thing, but it's not. We're doing so much damage for no fucking reason at all.
I think we went way too hard in praising all those medical workers early on. If these texts are any indication, their egos have grown way out of proportion because of it. They see themselves as superheroes when all they're doing is their fucking jobs.
