I could see Chantal being disillusioned by the mirror. Having stared at herself daily (or at least very frequently) over the course of the last ten years, she's likely not as exposed to the weight gain.

But I don't understand how she can't play back these videos as she's editing them and not see it. Especially the full body videos where here weight gain is clearly obvious.

We all know she deletes the critical comments, this is ancient knowledge. She wouldn't continue to make videos if she didn't have that small select few that give her the hugbox she needs. Did she seriously think she would fit into that? She mentions she loved how the dresses "had shape" and went in at the waist ... The dresses aren't fucking magic, Chantal. A dress that goes in at the waist won't do shit when the person wearing it goes OUT at the waist. She's more crazy than I thought, and that's saying something. Did she honestly think buying shit from Fashion Nova would somehow give her an hourglass shape?

My God... the thumbnail... I genuinely thought it was a reaction vid with that thumbnail, but nope, Chantal really looked at that photo of herself bent over, with the frizzy patchy hair and pained expression, and thought "yep, this is the one!"

Look at her wearing the headband in most of the video to try to hide whatever it is she did to her bangs. The headband comes off at some point and her hair doesn't move. It's hard to tell how much is because it's so matted (did she try to tease it for volume or is it just that unkempt?) and how much is scalp grease.


Even when she tries to make it look better you can see how greasy and matted it is:

At points she really looks like she cut herself a mullet. It reminds me a little bit of people who decide to shave their head and unwisely start with a big strip down the middle, only for the clippers to die leaving them with a Riff Raff hairdo.

What's with the khaki bermuda shorts and capris? Khakis aren't flattering on even the lithest of women, and boy do they accentuate cellulite. It's not like I expected her to buy Daisy Dukes or anything but I can't tell if she's trying to dress like a Boy Scout or like grandma.

For those of you talking about how she's delusional and she really can't see that nothing fits and everything looks terrible, I'm not sure I agree. I think she knows she looks horrifying, and that she's only done this to herself. But I think she's trying to adopt the same confidence she's seeing in these BoPo influencers she's been following in spades, and thinks if she's just confident enough maybe people will believe that she's comfortable with what she sees in the mirror. There are a few points in the video where you can see the mask slip, and she gets this almost grimace of an expression that I can't quite put words to. Self-loathing? Disappointment?

Can confirm this. A part of it is the rapid weight gain - the brain hasn't processed it yet, it will take a light bulb moment for her to actually realise what she looks like, and then she will probably push it away and go eat three cakes to feel better for two minutes.

Despite getting a walker and sizing out of the monthly tarps from mothers', she brought the same sized clothes (or the next size up) from a haul she did roughly a year or so ago where the clothes either fit her as intended or were slightly loose.

There would have been moments of realisation while filming that video, not having clothes fit (probably why she did not want to re-film it) but because everyone told her fashion nova run small, she has an excuse that helps fuel the delusion - i'm not *that* big, they run small in sizing.. *hoovers arbys*

I'd say it happens even if weight gain has been slow, like our gurls who have been morbidly obese most of their lives. They have "forgotten" how a normal body looks and feels like, life without aching and easy breathing. Daily pain is normal. It's same when a deathfat manages to drop down to normal BMI. In their head they will always be the fatty, or it might take years to get used to it. Just walking on a street can feel surreal, because the body doesn't take the space brain thinks it does.
