No Brianna you're not going to able to launch a 16 bit console when a 32 bit processor with gpu is almost free and emulators and dev tools already exist for actually good consoles exist.

Plus there are already more 16 bit games than anyone can finish and web games can do everything any 16 bit processor can do without forcing the dev to use c and asm... All for free.

How can she be so dumb about the business she's part of.

Why it's almost as though she's trying to make do in a field that she never wanted to be a part of to begin with! Remember, all Brianna wants to do is find a way to make tons of money off two things:

1. Being Brianna Wu.
2. Selling stories involving Brianna Wu being Brianna Wu.

She tried and apparently failed to get what she wanted out of journalism with that (likely because you are taught in journalism to not make yourself the story). She tried and failed to accomplish this through an animation studio. She was on the path to failing with video games but something oh-so-wonderful happened! She found something she could parasitically attach herself to and ride into the next great venture, unlike all those other failures. One has to wonder if she ever considered just trying to get on a reality TV show. Would have been less of a headache for about the same results.

I'm trying to imagine an issue of nintendo power or any other early game magazine with a bunch of OP-ed pieces by SJWs

Also, this games actually go to modern consoles (Solar Pier going from Megadrive to PS4). She cannot even realease her fucking game in steam.

Wanna know the most offensive thing you can show wu?

This is the same person who thought a satellite could "go adrift over China". I don't think Brianna knows where the Sol system is in comparison to the rest of the galaxy. (We're on the outer edges of a spiral arm).

The hillarious thing is that in reality, Wu is such a fucking bigot that they don't realize when it comes to just how truly fucking, oh holygoddam HUGE the total volume of space in which humanity knows shit even fucking exists, she isn't even a blip on the fucking radar of life.

I don't think she'd be offended. The sun isn't at the center of the universe.

Because of the vast size, the observer is always the center of the universe. Astrophysics and related fields get weird with such large sizes as the whole of a cosmos.

On a lighter note, is Wu blocking people who ask about the Rev60's port on Steam? I feel like that's something that he really hates, especially since his only employee and the only person who works is on maternity leave.

Dev base for 16-bit console? Perhaps there would be a handful of hardcore enthusiasts, but not the crowd Wu had in mind. Good fucking luck getting the current breed of Flash and Twine reliant San Francisco hipster developers to work within the constraints of SNES or Mega Drive level hardware. "Ew! Does it even run Patreon?"
By dev she meant donor. She's just looking for a new project to get money to be in charge of.

Remember, Brianna doesn’t make games for “gamers,” she makes games for the tumblr community. Tumblr culture has always been image over substance, nostalgia over progress, cute over practical, etc.

Like that brand new Arduboy console that’s the size of a credit card.
Because you really need a two inch, black and white LED screen with worse graphics than the Gameboy to play uninspired remakes of played out 80s arcade games in 2015.

Guh, just looked this shit up. Consumerism run amok, man. It's a cool little gadget if you built one yourself but 99% of the people buying it are doing so so that they can whip it out at a bar and feel cool for half a second. Humiliating.

Brianna Wu has to invent her own terms to justify what she does, even if it means alienating the rest of the gaming community.

Off-Topic: What can one do with an Arduboy that you can't do with a smartphone or tablet?

4. something something take own advice

Regarding the Rev60 Steam port I'm honestly starting to think it will never see the light of day. Watching Wu the past few months she's mostly been focused on trying to become a podcast/link blog/convention personality full time and is actually succeeding.

No need to make games if you can just get paid to talk about yourself, da twolls and fems in STEM

Nothing. Zero.
The creator decided to market it as an educational tool to teach code, but I'm sure there are at least 100 apps that do similar, better. Why would someone choose to learn C++ on that thing when they have a computer?
Yea it's a "console" you can fit in your wallet, but it can't replace the phone already in your pocket, so what's the point?

It looks like the guy who made it built a similar device for playing tetris and his youtube of the thing went viral with people who just couldn't believe that someone could actually make a computing device on their own or something, it sounds like it might have been as simple as plugging a screen and a dpad into an arduino in this case. It was the reaction of these people that must have encouraged him to go ahead, it looks like he showed it to lots of people before making the kickstarter for what was probably intended to be a modest run of these things and then he managed to get 10x as much.

My prediction is that he recovers his costs and then builds a single shipment of these devices which barely sell and then he ends up donating a lot of the hardware and money to educational entities. The dude seems cool and is probably as dumbfounded by hipster false nostalgia as we are but he was wise enough not to let the opportunity pass him by.

I have to wonder if wu saw the success of this thing and figured she might try and tweak the recipe and make her own because she doesn't understand why it's stupid and only sees that it's gotten funded.

We're not the only ones who think this is dumb. Why is it there is a new stupid kickstarter gadget every week. I remember a few months ago someone was selling a tor appliance that could have been replaced by a vbox or custom wrt firmware. Also it was stupid because there would be no way good to keep your tor software up to date.

It seems like I can deconverge any electronic convergence device and I'll be hailed as a genius on kickstarter...

More dumb

This didn't turn out too good. I honestly can't figure out how they spent so much money on a custom case for a ARM dev board, bluetooth controller and a custom app store for android.

1. Sorry about that Wu, but I actually prefer getting the OUYA than your first party console lol

2. So responding to a tweet which only has one retweet is a victory. Oh well, WELL DONE BRIANNA WU! *applauses*

3. Just leaving it here

4. Thanks for admitting it

5. Leaving this here too

6. She's playing with her husband in Mario Party 10 atm

I can't even decide which among these is the dumbest. I think I remember being proud of "pwning" someone on the Internet and declaring it everywhere when I was...you know, I don't actually think I ever was.

Also good thing she put the slam on all the GamerGate bros arguing about Mario Party being competitive. Evo btfo

Inspirefest needs a much better... whatever Wu is meant to be to it.

I mean, how inspiring can a person with one or if you count maternity leave, no actual employees, be?

That's a good point, why are there so many stupid fucking kickstarter things? The only thing I can think of is people like being part of something, it's way cooler to say "I help funded this gadget on kickstarter" than "went to the store and bought gadget"
That and people putting anything and everything indie on a pedestal
