Thanks for the clarification. If these protestors are targeting RMDH, than they're truly lower than pond scum. If it was random violence that just happened to impact an RMDH, it goes to show that these "protests" are less about justice and meaningful change and more about having an excuse to bust shit up under the guise of fighting the system. Either way, they aren't doing themselves any favors.
I also know people in similar situations. One such person would love to move away as soon as they can save up enough money to relocate. Another has to stay put for now, but has beefed up security and added one of those ring cameras. Every now and then, a review of overnight footage shows random people that don't live there walking around in the overnight hours as if they're casing the area.
The heroin express story doesn't surprise me in the least. While I can understand the frustration of those in the area that need or rely on public transportation, I can't blame those that don't want the negatives associated with it in their neighborhoods.
This is pretty common ever since the last recession. An urban area near me gradually lost its manufacturing (and associated income tax) base and the city went into emergency management. Things were bleak enough that the manager ended up dissolving the city's police and fire departments. Policing was then handled by the county sheriff's department and fire handled by the adjacent township. Both had more resources and could provide better service for less money and also promised to hire as many of the city's displaced police/fire personnel as possible.
What's really needed is better coordination so that incidents requiring the police get them and those that can be handled without police involvement get the appropriate people and resources. Cutting of funding or doing anything to hinder coordination or cooperation is short-sighted and a bad idea. Sadly, the people advocating defunding don't get it or purposely ignore it.
Interesting that 99.9% of their incoming money comes form electronic giving. I wonder how much of that, if not all of it, is untraceable.
Either the business fucked up royally or they have poor tax planning skills to have to allocate $150k (39% of their total expenses) to cover estimated Federal Taxes. Given that these people aren't exactly know for their compliance with legal requirements, nothing would surprise me about that.
It's also peculiar that a supposed rib business is only paying 2% of its expenses ($8361 as listed) towards actual food.
Being 37% of their expenses, it's their largest line item apart from the $150k in estimated tax payments. I can't prove it, but I suspect this is money that somehow gets
funneled donated to local arms of BLM, Antifa, etc. It would e interesting to ever see a detailed breakdown on who received all that money, but sadly, they will probably do all they can to keep it hidden or obfuscated.
@heathercho - it wouldn't surprise me if this is a situation where multiple individuals or groups merely donate the same money back and forth amongst themselves akin to the people that do the same thing on Patreon and similar platforms.
As much as these people like to play fast and loss and ignore laws they find problematic, I can safely say from my own dayjob experiences that most people with any sort of intelligence know better than to actively do anything that will draw negative attention from the IRS -- a government entity known for being merciless, especially when it suspects something is improper or amiss.
