The rioters think that they're acting righteously because of the narratives imposed on history after WW2. Showing how those narratives are false is part of a larger discussion about why the rioters are completely and utterly in the wrong.

Now that Oregon State Police has pulled out, I wonder if Antifags will try to break into the courthouse and cause serious damage. Is there anyone stationed there or guarding it at all? Certainly isn't a matter of if, but when, right?

As protests have happened over the years I've watched the participants change and adapt to respond to what the police do. The newest thing I saw this time was using a leaf blower to disperse tear gas. Every time some new action or counter-measure was applied to them by the police, they just developed a way to counteract or repeal it, maybe even come back with something new against that counter-measure. Now that's warfare 101, and I think someone in this thread mentioned that maybe a hundred pages ago? Now the DA comes out and says 'lol what law?' and things are just heating up again. This is the DA, a public figure, responding in the same kind of way to counteract and antagonize like the protesters do. The police are the last thing stopping you? Well now their efforts will be fruitless!

If you were bullied as a kid or a teenager you might see these protests and think back on that. You got a person or a group of people who keep fucking with you, and when you adapted to it they found some other way to fuck with you, and maybe it didn't end until you beat their face in and broke their nose. The police can't respond that way, but I wish they could. These protesters are just bullies who don't care about really defunding the police or destroying the concept of law -they just want to be the police themselves and put in place their concept of justice.

Everything tells me that this is now on purpose, it's allowed to happen, leaders want it to happen, but I can't understand what the endgame is supposed to be. I remember white flight from the cities in the 60's and 70's because of the same kinds of shit, but this is on a whole other level. To what ends do these politicians and leaders desire to reach by destroying these cities? This is playing out a lot like a war, but I don't remember anything like this in the past where people think they are winning by destroying their own locales and communities. Is there anything that sets precedence for this that isn't Nero playing his fiddle?
