The riots have been going on long enough, it really is toke to take the kiddie gloves off. The same way you treat misbehaving children, you spank em/corporal punishment. Thin the numbers and make it so only the true believers want to come out and riot, all the larpers and kids doing it for the social media clout think twice.

Portland is still bad, but it occurs to me they are successfully preventing any actual attacks on a building. The cops' strategy has shifted, now it seems to be to take the fight into the street before a siege can set in, and it seems to be working.

The cops themselves are still getting hit with paint, paintballs, and eggs though.

The protests are getting split up into the surrounding neighborhood and park, but they can't damage police buildings. Maybe that's all they care about right now.

It's driving the mob nuts, they can't coordinate anything and they keep getting angry at everything. Obviously it's not a good impasse, but it's relatively contained compared to what was happening 2 weeks ago.

I find it hard to feel sorry for all these vaguely conservative "anti-racist" pseudo-militia guys when antifa mistakes them for naahtzees and runs them out of town. If you're still looking for in-roads to get along with BLM, then you haven't been paying attention for the last 80 nights and you're wasting everybody's time.

Every single time, their sorry excuses for shield walls melt the second a riot cop even touches them. They talk a big game about 'flowing like water' but it always seems to translate to 'run like bitches the moment anyone starts fighting back'.

Watching the shit they keep pulling with Andy Ngo and the like is infuriating as fuck. But what do you do about it? If you push them out of the way the cops let them assault you and arrest you for defending yourself. If you try and stop them from pointing lasers or strobe lighting the area they jump in your way and try and pick a fight, and then the cops let them assault you and arrest you for defending yourself.

Slapstick is a great option, because it pisses them off and their anger only makes the slapstick funnier, which makes their reaction seem more unreasonable which adds to your defense. Funny smelling stuff (I still stand by durian essence), holding up a mirror to deflect their stupid lasers, setting off a loud personal alarm or playing an mp3 of a stupid or annoying song top volume if they try to record you, or, if they harass you in your home, rushing the front door with a goofy mask on and screaming "BANZAIIIIIIIII!" and wielding a toy snake- they're gonna be pissed and everyone else is going to be like OMG that was fucking epic.

A flat shield line in the middle of the street isn't "flowing like water", it's posturing. If they had the slightest bit of coordination intending to take the strategy seriously, they would part the shield wall and form a U trap for the cops to rush into, using their superior numbers to keep it strong.

Assuming they had any upper body strength, that is. Or some brains. Which they don't. The shield wall is something they do to look cool, they don't even layer the shields to reinforce them. The cops just body check the front and it falls apart.

It's possible it's just stupid normie American libertarian/conservative types who think they still have rights and the cops won't side with antifa if they're attacked. That worked out well for the Proud Boys. From what I've seen, actual principled anti-Zionists have learnt that they will get set up by the cops if they have to defend themselves, but most American conservatives haven't learnt that lesson- human beings fighting back against the system's running dogs don't have rights.

But yes, as you say, this little bit of grandstanding might be either this guy doing recruitment to grift, or alternatively to entrap guys who want an avenue to fight back against the filth.
