War Philadelphia Police Ask People to Turn in Unwanted Guns as Violence Surges Across City - Stupid Pigs Target Citizens Because They Can't Do Shit to "Peaceful Protesters"

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — With gun violence in Philadelphia at epidemic levels, local organizations are joining forces to try to make a difference. Philadelphia police and other groups are holding a “Home Gun-Check Campaign” this weekend.

They’re asking people to go through their homes, locate guns they don’t want and turn them in with no questions asked.

It’s been said bullets don’t discriminate. Unfortunately, we’ve seen that firsthand this summer in Philadelphia.

Seven-year-old Zamar Jones was killed on Aug. 1. A 6-year-old girl was pierced by a stray bullet that was fired into a crowd less than a week later. And two more children were struck this past weekend.

So now there’s a plea in the form of a gun check campaign from the police, city and religious leaders.

“Get those guns, run that room, see what’s in there. Find out what’s being hidden in your house. Take it out and turn it in,” City Councilmember Cindy Bass said.

Two churches — one in North Philly and the other in South Philly — will accept the firearms on Saturday, no questions asked.

“It must be stressed that community members who submit firearms will not be asked to produce identification. In addition, the submission of a firearm will not trigger an investigation of the person who relinquished it,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said.

This isn’t a buyback program, organizers are simply hoping to appeal to your conscience.

“You can possibly save their life and the lives of other people,” said Rev. Gregory Holsten with Janes Memorial United Methodist Church.

“You might be saving your child’s life because gun violence is as dangerous as coronavirus,” Councilmember Curtis Jones said.

Guns can be turned in this Saturday at Janes Memorial United Methodist Church and Tasker Street Missionary Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Never attribute to malice what is probably incompetence. They propose this stuff not because they're puppets of criminals, but because they're just so STUPID they think it will work.

Or they know it won't work, but, have to "do something" or else they'll be voted out as the incompetents they are for failing to get crime under control. They slashed the police budget to the point they can't arrest you for shooting someone, so the next best thing is to ask you to stop, pretty-please.

It's taken 30 years instead of 22 minutes, but, the plot to the children's morality play in cartoons where the "nice" person replaces the "mean boss" at the helm of a company/school is reaching it's crescendo in our cities. You know it goes.... The new chief executive at the top thinks that just being your friend and letting you do whatever feels good is the way to go, and the institution falls apart because nobody has a clear command structure to work within and a total lack of discipline means those who are TRYING to do the right thing are helpless when the guy at the next desk refuses to do his part.

Turns out what was "mean" to a casual observer was just the necessary force to keep society working. And that lesson is finally playing out in real life because dozens and dozens of successive civic governments felt that being nice and giving free cookies to misbehaving people would solve all the problems.... and when things go out of control, not only are they caught off-guard, but they can't even envision any way to respond. Not only did they fail to plan for this outcome, they can't even see that they caused it. They not only didn't ever think they'd have wet and moldy carpet in the house, they can't even see their policy of leaving cups of water on the floor everywhere was what caused it.

They never dreamed their ideas wouldn't work, and using force to stop crime is so alien a concept to them they'd rather die than fix the mess with a solution that would work, but wouldn't make them feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
